Well I opted for the teflon oil pump job. As of now, I'm not happy at all with the transaction. For starters, ERE said they took paypal. We agreed on a final price of $270, and I was to give them 65% down. I figured that was fair. I paypal them $170, and they deny my payment since I used my debit card. Turns out if they accept debit card paypals it changes their service from paypal and their charges go up. That annoyed me at first, then I was exceptionally mad when I found out I would have to wait up to 30 days to get my denied payment back.  well it took abotu 2 1/2 weeks to get my money back. I'm a college student, I don't have alot of cash to throw around. I feel as though Earick Racing should have informed about their paypal issues, would have saved alot of aggrivation. I talked to Brian, (owner) and he said he would wave the down payment. At that point I was happy again. About 3 weeks later he sends me an email, C.O.D. $350 the cover is on it's way.  what happened to $270 :Do No: Who the hell agreed to C.O.D??? :Do No: :Do No: after like 3 emails he tells me he had to replace the shaft that the other oil gear rides on. He never called, emailed me or tryed to contact me about the substantial hike in price. That in my opinion is poor business manners. I am a third year business major, and I know that doesn't fly. :Smarty: Thats only half of it. Who the hell agreed to C.O.D.???? For gods sake, I work full time, I am a full time student, UPS comes at 1 in the afternoon. I'm not home. Now I have pick the package up at a UPS facility..... which is 40 minutes from my house, by Wednesday or they are going to send it back. On top of that I have to take half a day off to go get it. If he would have asked me about shipping I would have told him no way on c.o.d. is that really convient for anyone?? all this bull@#$% could have been avoided if he would have contacted me about shipping. I could have sent him a MO. and this whole mess could be avoided. I'm almost tempted to let UPS send it back so ERE can eat the work and shipping. I'm half stubborn Irish and Half car guy.

In summary, they denied my payment, even though he told me I could paypal it, then he hiked the price with out my consent, and COD me with out my consent. now I'm left jugling a mess that ERE created for me. On top of all this, I have finals this weeks. Am I over reacting here? Should I be flaming mad or let it go??? This is a huge inconveince for me.... :Dou:

Here is what he was doing for $270
Teflon coat housing and gears, new adj. regulator, booster plate, new front seal, new pump and blueprint. I thouhgt that was a decent price, but It was an extra 70 to replace the shaft for the oil pump. If that needed to be replaced fine, but I am mad he didn't tell me he was going to do it, and then I had to email him about 3 times to get an answer from him. I haven't even recieved the package yet. I hope for his sake that he did a god job, or I am going to drive down to Ohio and throw the cover through his shop window...

    Joe,
Sorry to hear of your bad experience. To recondition the timing cover, they advertise 120.00. I guess you had new gears installed, the pump assembled, and the pump clearances blueprinted. What else was new? Doesn't sound like a bad price, but I'd like to know exactly what they did. I agree they should have called you when they discovered that the cover needed more work. Call Brian, and discuss it with him. He seemed like a reasonable guy the few times I've met him. I paid over 700.00 for the TA Performance cover, new gears, new pump cover, booster plate, and adjustable regulator. Best money I ever spent. I assume you marked the cover before you sent it to him. They usually bead blast the covers, I assume. Are you sure he sent you a different cover? Hope it works out for you.

I'd also like to see any additional feedback on them. I was going to contact them to discuss the possibility of doing some engine work next winter. Think I'll hold off until I see more posts.

I am positive its a different cover. Mine had a heli-coil where the alternator bracket goes, and on teh the loacting dowel hole was slightly out of round. Mine was sent to him blasted, with no traces of paint. This one still has some Buick red on it.

As far as the price goes, I thought 270 was fair, thats why I sent it to him. That included the neoprene seal, booster plate, adj. regulator, and a new pump. Assembled and blue printed. The price wasn't a problem. See I wonder if my cover needed the shaft replaced, or if he mixed mine up with a different cover from the begining. Its not the way to run business. I'm still waiting on a response from him as to why I have the wrong cover, and just where exactly my cover is.

I'm also looking out for the owner of the cover I have now. For all I know it could a number matching 70 Stage 1 cover to some poor guys GSX. To me matching numbers is no big deal, since the 430 would never be in a Skylark anyway. But it is the princple of it to me. ERE has not done a single thing right yet....

I had them do a 464 Buick short block last winter for me with their "Ultimate 500" cam, new pistons, balanced blah, blah, blah, I found them to be very competent after visiting them and anticipate no problems with their work or the engine. James does most of the assembly work and seems to know what he is talking about and answered all my questions direct and to the point. I am in the process of installing the engine as we speak.
It is a small shop and they probably get swamped pretty easilly. I think they feel the end product is the sum of all the parts and they will use the best parts they have to meet that endeven if they are not yours. I always think it is better to work out problems "off air" than to blast them on the board here. Not trying to start a war because I know how you feel, ther are so many scam artists taking advantage of people and lying constantly that it is hard to seperate the good from the bad. I think these guys are in the "good" category. I truly hope things work out. Mike D.

I had them do my pump and they were great to deal with. Sent them 2 covers and parts told them to pick the best and do whatever necessary to get one set up correctly. Put in 2 new gears and blueprinted it, did not need to be coated, and sent it back. Called me and said it was on the way and told me what the bill was. Could not ask for more. I hope you contact them and get this worked out.

    Thumbs up for ERE!!!!!

I have been dealing with Brian and James for several years now, and I can honestly say that I have never been unhappy with their results. Brian and James both are very knowledgeable individuals, and very passionate about buicks, and offering the finest product they can. I highly recommend them for any future work.

Rockauto.com shows they have the Sealed-Power stock oil pump gears (includes the shaft) for $23. Part # 224-519. The thrust plate 225-518TP is $11.

I've returned your call. Like I said in my post, I'm a full time student, and a full time mechanic. This week is finals week at college so I'm rarely home. I'm not home from about 8-8 every day. I want to clear this up, I'm just hard to get a hold of. I also look forward to clearing this up.

    Update: resolution

ERE simply made the mistake of confusing two identical parts. Easy enough to do. I've sent the cover back, and I should have mine back with a refund for the extra work by the end of the week. I gave ERE my apologies for acting like a jerk. I was under alot of stress that week and this situation was the straw that broke my back. Again sorry to ERE. We've cleared this up, and both parties are happy. Although we both made a bonehead mistake. :spank: I would deal with them again.

Now that's good to hear. A peaceful resolution, and a public notification. I think we can all understand the story now. Noone got screwed...just human error, now settled like real men.

I'm considering using them for my upcoming project as well, since they're close to me.

Anyone else? How are these guys with 350's?

    Reid,
Give Brian a call, ask questions, tell him what you are looking for from the 350. He knows his buicks so give him a shot.
    And he's real close too!
