I hope u will be fine. I had an engine that has a coolant leak from the intake manifold to the heads .

I replaced the intake and cleaned the engine, no disassembly which was a big mistake.

With new oil I drove around 500 Miles, and the engine begun to loose slightly oil pressure at idle. I checked the oil filter and it had just tiny silver flakes with are non-magnetic. Next 500 Miles the pressure was so terrible that I switched from 10w30 to 20w50. OP goes up but I know at this moment the engine will fail but it was summer so drive it until the end. End of the summer I reach the gold status, engine had a bad knock and the silver flakes are gone, yes I earned gold flakes, unfortunately it was messing and not gold.

Just want to say, look at your oil pressure gauge in the next few tousand miles and don’t be lazy.

    What kind of vacuum
Are you pulling with that Peterson pump ?
Possibly & Sounds like skirt wear or scuffing or possible Rings could be chewing the ring lands .... cam bearings intial wear could be silver flakey partials .

Are You sure your valve spring pressures are enough ? Push rod defection could be a factor also .

Next thousand miles?:D. That would be like 4000 no 8000 passes down the track. This engine will never see street use. I've changed the oil after each outing and it seems to get a little cleaner each time. Yesterday during the oil change I swapped the System 1 filter to a Wix Race series. after the next 2 outings I'll cut that open and see whats in there. As I was draining the oil I put a magnet in the stream as the oil was going into the drain pan. It did collect some of the black stuff as well as a few heavier silver metallic flakes. At this point Im over worrying about i. Its going to be whatever it will be. One thing I was wondering about was that even with a bearing failure would I see a noticeable decrease in OP using that Peterson pump?

Really have no idea. Its not pulling any true crankcase vacuum as far as I know. I have the header evac system and It does pull enough to suck the hose to my hand at idle. Didnt see any sign of rubbing on the push rods the last time I had the covers off. next time i'll remove the rockers and check that closer.

No vacuum pump combined on the Peterson oil pump I guess

Just curious, what was the part number on the wix filter you swapped to from the system one?

The R1 pump does not have the vac pump inc. Dont know how Id fit it in there if it was.

If that WIX filter is threading directly onto a stock Buick BB oil filter adapter, then it's wrong! That's a Chevy filter. You'd want a 1258.

    Thanks,yes a stock buick filter doesn't thread on.my system 1 has a larger threaded hole.I'll check that 1258
