I recently picked up a '65 Skylark convertible. The drivers door window regulator is broken (interior side small gear). I am wondering if '66-'67 regulators are the same as '64 & '65? All the resto sites just list '66 and up.... Anyone know for sure?
1974 Hollander says: '64-'65 Buick Special front (door) Post is #843. H.T. & Conv. #844 Four door is #845 There is crossover to all other three divisions - H.T. and Conv. only. And '64-'65 only. I would suspect OPGI has that available in their Chevelle line. If not, I have a contact who recently parted a true '65 Chevelle SS. He still has the doors. He might sell ALL the guts out of the driver's side.
OPG only lists 66 and newer (for chevelle and BOP), like everyone else OR the electric conversion kit. I was hoping '66 would work, as i found one locally (i have not been able to compare it side by side yet)
Yep '64-'65 have "pot metal" or some sort of a casting for part of the regulators and window track assemblies. Likely very expensive to reproduce for a limited market. Kind of similar to how the '64-'65 Chev A radiator supports were for a long while.
Any idea if the regulator geometry all the same, just made of different material? Would a '66 work, just not be "correct"?
No, don't know, I have not parted much first generation stuff. Did not move to southwest until mid nineties, they were gone from yards, by most part, by then.
