Anyone have the measurements for where to cut the rectangular opening in the driver's door panel for the power window switch on a 70-72 GS?
    thanks

George's article is very helpful, but I didn't see anything about the dimensions for cutting the door panels for the switches.
    Anyone else??
    thanks

FWIW - the power window setup should include a rectangular metal border piece that has tabs on the backside/edges to fold over the door panel board. The other switches utilize smaller square versions of the same thing. These act as a stiffener for the door panel board as well as a sort of "receptacle" for each switch.....SEE PICS BELOW (this is from a '70 Olds Cutlass):

These switch "escutcheons" mount at the same spot as the manual window cranks which I'm sure you already knew. I DON'T, however, know if the rectangular gang switch (D side door) is centered over the manual window hole location or something else as I don't have the door panels from the car this setup came from.

Opening size for the Drvr's Door rectangular escutcheon is 1-1/4" x 3-7/16"

The opening size for the other, square escutcheons is 1-5/32" x 1-5/32"

NOTE: If you have these escutcheons you need to leave the holes small enough so the escutcheons JUST fit into the holes...the reason being that you want to have door panel UNDER the flat face/border of each escutcheon for maximum support, etc. Sort of hard to explain in text so...err on a slightly smaller hole size and trim carefully from there until have have a TIGHT fit.

These escutcheons have integral "bend tabs" that you fold back/over the backside of the door panel board.

I don't know if your setup has these escutcheons but they appear to be a fairly critical part of the package on this setup to get the switches to stay in place on the door panel properly.

Does anyone know where the 4 position switch is positioned on the panel?
Is the switch centered on the window crank hole or is it moved forward or back?
Have new door panels to install and the original panels were set up for window cranks.

Forward rocker of 4 position switch should be centered on the original round hole.

Yes they are. Just glad I have the original panels. Because of the little square frames that switches mount to.
