I installed my door seals and made a big mess with the glue ...went and got some wax & grease remover and
started wiping off the seal and the paint ....for some reason it kind of disintegrated the rubber ,got mad at myself and yanked em off ....didn't like the way they ended at rear of door by the glass anyways and an awkward look with the door panel curve ....also didn't stick to well in some areas ...after doing some research they say to wipe with lacquer thinner before install

learned my lesson, less glue is better :)

    Question
When installing the door seals is it glued all around or just here and there
    or just the corners ?

How about no glue? I never used any and I don’t think the factory did either? What kind did you use? 3m super weatherstrip black adhesive won’t harm rubber. If you insist on using it use that. Most if the weatherstrip brands suck. The good latex stuff the parts place sells worked the best for me. I still had to trim it in some areas. Most brands you need to slam the door. It’s brutal.

I may have possibly used some at the big end pieces. Again nothing but 3m. It never hardens so you can get it off. Only black super.

It was the G &W remover that ate up the rubber ....

    No glue ? that's to easy :) I will try that ... ...I used the 3m black
these were the soft seal ,been sitting in its bag for over 6 years maybe ...I will do TPP seals ..

Soft Seal and you will be slamming doors forever. Yes just a bit of adhesive at ends. Those pop ins are enough to hold in place along with screws at ends.

I, too, used 3m super weatherstrip black adhesive when I installed the "Steel Rubber" weather stripping. Worked good for me.

How Steele ? I tried Soft Seal and Metro but not them. I would never use anything but that Latex type I got from the Parts Place unless NOS.?

I spent some big $$$ on a full set of Steele products seal and felts for the vert. Most fit like a glove, door Seal (no glue) maybe i will add some to the ends on the passenger side. The good part of the story is the felts didn't match on the inside rear door panels. I know, how is that a good story. After one call and provided measurements of the what was sent and what i had they called back! The supplier has the wrong ones. The good part, they said send my felts to the supplier and they will build them to match. They were helpful, clearly understood etc. I received the match built felts and fit perfect. Lastly, never paid a dime more then my original purchase price. I can only suspect either i have the wrong door panels or they have the wrong pattern. either way it turned out well even if it was a little longer then expected.

Gary those rear felts both in and out are notorious for not fitting our cars. For the hardtop anyway the best ones are TWE brand for the Chevelle. The only ones that would work. I still had to drill 1 or two new holes.

3m has a product called weatherstrip adhesive release agent that works good. Post some pictures when you get them on.
