Wow - the story goes like this - seems the wife was having an affair with the flight instructor....this is the result when the husband found out! Looks like he had a chain saw handy at the time....

Even though it does take 2 to tango,
the scorned spouse always seems to take revenge upon the wrong person.
The wife is the one who should pay.
Not the guy she was cheating with.

Yeah, now that you mention it those are very uniformly spaced cuts.

It would not have been a hangar accident . If you crank up an airpalane in a hangar you may blow out the walls with the thrust from the prop. As I recall this was a taxing accident that occurred in Australia outside on the ramp.. If you look carefully in the background, the Cessna 310's (the twin's) tail number appears to start with the letters "VH" which is the international country code for AUS.

Had something like this happen to two friends except they were in the aircraft when a retired 747 captain took off while they were still on the runway. His prop cut their aircraft in half about a foot behind their heads. His prop left the same signature on the back of their wing before severing the fuselage. Since we knew the maximun rated RPM for his aircraft we were able to measure the space betwen the prop cuts and calculate his forward speed at impact--about 70 knots.

This is hallmark signature of a prop strike with the interval in the cuts directly related to the forward motion of the aircraft and the RPM dialed in on the prop control on the dash. I have seen the same signatures left in the asphalt on runways when a flare to land is mistimed and the prop starts whacking the runway leaving equa-distant cuts. If you look at the picture you can see where the other side of the prop's arc cut off the tail of right engine nacelle.

Greg Schmelzer What are you looking at?!

    That all depends...

    Dale,

While agree that the woman should have to pay, if the guy knew that she was married, there should be some amount of retribution for him, too. My wife cheated on me and he got his in the end. I left her with him! Hahahahaha. I win! :TU:

I'd be a bit leery about taking a chain saw to the gas filled wings. :eek2:
