Does this look like a VIN to anyone?

    So I'm using one of my grandfather's license plates as a YOM registration for the Skylark. I thought it might be cool to know what car he had used it on in 1965. The mess below is all that the state had to offer me. SG 14701 is the tag number; do the red bolded items look like a piece of a VIN? The tag was probably on a GM car, but I can't even say that for sure.

    Thanks.

    No, they don't make any sense at all.
    A model year 1965 GM car had a 13 digits VIN.
    (only Cadillac was still using a VIN with 8 digits)

    For a Skylark it could look something like this:

    4 44 27 5 H 204857

    4 = Buick

    44 = Skylark (V8)

    37 = 2 drs hardtop coupe

    5 = model year 1965

    H = Flint, Michigan factory (not sure if there were Skylarks built there, this is just an example)

    204857 = Production number for the Flint factory for 1965 (again, not sure if this is a correct number for the Flint factory, this is just an example)

    1 47 01 could be a part of a Chevrolet VIN, because the first digit is a 1 for Chevrolet.
    But 47 for the model and 01 for the body type was not used for 1965.

    SG 14701 is the license plate number. The thing I can't help you guys with is that I don't know a year or make. I'd guess it's a 62-65 GM product, but don't know that even.

    Just got confirmation that F10AKP64840 is the VIN. That's a 72 Ford truck, so I think I'm at a dead end as far as a '65 license plate goes. Thanks.
