haha. I thought the same thing. I keep reading it out loud...... "DOES BIG RIMS LOOK TUPID?????" In my best caveman voice...
This thread is almost 10 years old now!! I think popular opinion has shifted some over time. IMO big rims DOES look stupid if the ride height has to be adjusted to accommodate the wheels. Cars now come factory with 20-22 inch wheels....I don't think that was the case in 2009. The pro-touring look has gotten really popular in the last 5-10 years. Hard to pull that look off with 15" wheels.
Okay whoever resurrected this thread needs to get to the back of the line. Or go sit in the corner. You're punished.
Coil over shocks up front, slight notch on chrome trim on the rear side of front fender. Air shocks in the rear, fit fine, 5" lip is max before frame notching. This is a 26"
That Electra does not look too bad since the car is lowered down but that pic on the first page looks like crap. The short tire will make the car ride really rough. I have stiff springs and big sway bars and with using 235-60-15 front and 275-60-15 on back my car rides on the rough side. My car is slightly lowered with this set up It is a HO- Racing set up if anyone remembers this set up.
From what I understand, these rims with thin tires make the car ride like s___. I get the "fad" and "style" thing...I had long hair in the '60's like almost everyone else, too...but I don't think I would ruin the ride of my car for fashion. Now, the C2 has real knock-off wheels, which are a trip in themselves, so... Cheers, Richard
Not fan of the big Compton rims. My buddy recently purchased a really nice 69 sport satellite convertible (like roadrunner) it had the centerline style knockoff's on it and I thought some 15 magnum rallys would have been sweet but he custom ordered some aluminum magnum type wheels and they are pretty tall but he likes them so I just keep my mouth shut about it, it's his rig.
