90 is the only year I made it and I do remember a Black GS that smelt like the paint was still wet.Was that your car?I remember it having a black vinyl top and the chrome trim had red insted of black in it?
Mine has no vinyl. I remember another black 71 there with a vinyl top and Centerlines. I took of picture of that one because it looked so similar to mine. At the show, there were only 4 71's displayed. Two I remember vividly, one was sandpiper beige and the other verde green. Here's a pic of mine from the show. I brought Jen down with me. At the time, she was my "new" girlfriend! Amazingly enough, I still have both the car and the girl. Both look just as hot. Here's a comparison pic from back then and from the 09 BPG nats. Sorry, no pics of Jen
Jason, pretty sure that's my 71' with the vinyl top, parked next to your car in the 1991 photo. pro stock centerlines, those were the days!
Ha! thats funny! I loved that car. I kept gravitating towards it Took a few pics. Probably even spoke to you about it. Here's one of your car-
That was my 65 Wildcat 4-speed.... I have almost NO pictures of it.....anyone take pictures of it? Peace WildBill
Had to dig deep into the Cook archives, but I hooked you up Bill! :beers2: You can see my green Riv in the background. Funny, I have no pictures of MY car at the show. I was too busy oogling over everyone else's cars. If you like, I can mail them to you.
WOW.....that's my car. Cool.....i'd forgot i had installed a wood steering wheel and the 66 door panels for it's trip to the Nationals that year........ Jason.....just a good scan e-mailed to me would do.....i can print them here....... Thank YOU :beer Peace WildBill
If you look in the background of that pic Bruce, you'll see Doug Paine's 69 GS. At the time it was owned by Mike Modena. Mike flat towed it there that year behind his black F-150
Love the old shots! Keep 'em coming. My first trip to BG was '92, but I recognize several of the cars in your pics. Sure was a heck of a lot of cars there back then, especially evident in the show field and the shots of the staging lanes. Cool. Steve
The orange car on the trailer next to Bruce's is my old drag car. Bruce pulled up beside me because I was buying a camshaft from him, Bill Wills had just introduced us, I had spun a rod bearing, and needed a camshaft for the replacement engine I was installing in the pits at the track.....ou: GOOD TIMES FOR SURE!!! :TU:
