    Hi Doc.

Question (just in case I ever...) what are your thoughts on your "Doc Mod" on the stock 2x4 intake and using FiTech or similar TBI on 401/425?

I am reluctant to carve up an OEM 2x4 intake, but if it works well with the stock Carters and with a pair of Throttle Body EFI, then I might be inclined to do it down the road. (and same thought on the single square bore intakes in case others are interested)

    It's like a tattoo. I don't want any regerts. :D

    Thanks.

You could just use an Eelco 2x4 intake which already has the mod. You could even weld on injector bungs and use individual injectors on a fuel rail!
However, I don't think Marty is still making these.

Doc, great meeting you at St. Jo the other day for the parade. Glad to know there is another Riv fan this close to home. Your manifold looks great; makes you wonder why Buick didn't do it in the first place! May get me a good 401 manifold and get you to do that mod on it for me. Stay in touch!

Lets wake this thread again. Got myself a good running 65 again - 12.75 on Nailhead - did not have the intake mod to the Qjet intake so did that and will be eager to see what it gives. Put my well tuned 800 Qjet on too and opened the heat to the intake again. Lets see what it does.

yep, thats Jerry’s old car. Runs pretty good, but I will try to have go a bit faster. Got the custom 800 Qjet dialed in yesterday with A/F so will be interesting to see what that and the intake mod will do.

8.17 1/8 mile - 1.69 60ft on street slicks. Will block the heat passages again because intake got too warm - around 100 celsius. 14 runs between 8.17 - 8.30.

20200602_133835.jpg bottom block off plate works the best for me, on a iron intake.

IF you block the heat from the heads completely it will more than likely hesitate until it's really WARM. Blocking at the heads is more for JUST RACING & HOT DAYS.
