My 69 400 didn't have a distributor when I got it. Anyone have a good pic of the dwell window access position and where # 1 should be set? Right now I'll loose digits trying to adjust the dwell.

I like to have #1 1 position clockwise of the window. I then put the distributor in TDC with the vaccum advance with plenty of room to set timing. The window will be towards the front. You should have adequate room to put an Allen key in there to adjust points.

Here you go, right out of the Buick Chassis Manual.

A good rule I have used is get the vac canister pointing towards the radiator cap. Then I go to next cylinder clock wise from the window as #1. On an he seems to work if I recall to have the canister still pointing towards that rad cap. The terminal lug tends to end up basically near 3 o'clock and I use the 1st terminal clockwise again from that wiring lug as #1.

I have somewhere in my box a screw drive handle with a very flexible cable center with an Allen bit on the end, flex right around everything and save you skin to make adjustments when running

My Server was down yesterday so I never got back here.
If # 1 is clockwise of the dwell adjust window, and # 1 is @ the 3:00 o'clock pos.
Then the window access would be facing the power steering pump?

I don't know if the window ends up at 3, but I know on the hei there termal lug normally does.

Standing in front of the car, the window ends up at around 6 O’clock. It’s near the vacuum advance. Makes point dwell adjustment a challenge for sure. I have the flexible Allen wrench tool, which makes it a little safer.:)

The #1 tower is the one right between the window and the vacuum advance. The vacuum advance should point at the radiator cap when installed in the engine.
