My car has disc master cylinder and I think booster, but still has drum brakes. The guy before me didn't finish the job. Anyway, the brakes aren't working too good, I was going to put a rebuilt drum master cylinder on it but my question is -----do i need to change the booster too? How do I tell if it's a drum or disc booster? ahhhhhhh!!!!!!! :Do No: :Dou:

    r72gs Another project........

Drum and disk boosters are the same...

The rod from the brake pedal is in different location for power vs non power. I believe the power brakes use the upper hole position.

The drum bakes use a t block instead of a proportioning valve. The block is brass and rectagular in shape. I'd be sure you don't have a valve when changing the master cylinder.

Ok, I finally got the master cylinder on, and went to drive it, but the pedal effort is wayyyyyyy too hard!!!! I did the test in the service manual to check the booster and it seems to have a vaccum problem. If you pull the check valve off the booster and it sucks  , then it's the booster and not the check valve, right? Anybody got one? :ball: what's the difference in the shorter or longer pushrod? is it drum/disc? :error:
