Trying to change left front wheel cylinder. Can't get enough leverage to break the hose loose at the wheel cylinder using a line wrench. Tempted to remove the backing plate with wheeel cylinder and hose attached, or am I overlooking something?

Just like the old S.A.T. tests... "If you find a question too difficult to answer, move on to the next. If theres time left attempt to answer correctly." Take the cylinder off and slide the hose out an inch or two to work on. You ban also disconnect it from the rigid line and bench it. If its that tight (read rusty), the hose needs replacing anyway. Don't forget the never seize! ws

Disconnected the brake hose at the rigid line and unbolted the wheel cylinder---then, with the bleeder screw removed, the cylinder and hose would come off. Don't know about the hose, but the wheel cylinder could be an original one. Replaced both and it's all back together.

Didja bleed the entire system(change all the juice) while you were at it? Brake lines can rust out from the inside as well.

One of the PRIME places I use a dab-o-neverseize is on that bleeder screw.

At 52 years old, you should consider doing all four corners and convert to a double piston master, for safety sake. One of the worst feelings in the world is that pedal going to the floor, especially when yo need it! ws

Considering dual master cylinder and convert to power brakes at same time.
