I know there are some differences on earlier '70 compared to later '70 GS/Skylarks such as pointed lenses and maybe inner fenders etc...... But did all the 70's have the longer 17 inch pads and 18 inch bases?
Duane might be able to tell you that, but I think, not sure, that the cheap interior -the Special- did not have the long ones.Bruno.
It was not optional. (Where do people see/hear these things?) Anytime you want to know what was optional on a car, get a copy of the Wholesale Car Order Form for that year/model and see what was optional. If there is not a space on the sheet for that option, then it wasn't available. On the 1970 cars, only cars with the Deluxe/Custom interiors got the long armrests. These interiors came with the chrome strip in the long armrest base, the chrome escutcheon that mounts against the door, longer attaching screws, and carpets on the kick panels. They also had the courtesy lights in the sail panels and under the dash. Standard interior cars came with short armrests without the chrome strips, no chrome escutcheons, shorter mounting screws, and no carpets on the kick panels. They also came with a single dome light in the headliner and no courtesy lights anywhere. Anything other then this is where people were mixing & matching parts. I have used the above info many times to "catch" where people have changed interiors from std to deluxe. Duane
.............and before anyone asks, if you have a set of short armrest bases with the chrome strips in them & escutcheons, then they would be correct for a 71-72 car with the Deluxe/Custom interiors. Duane
