Mine is blue for some odd reason and I'd like to paint it tomorrow. Which sheen black and does it just unbolt and come right off?
the voltage regulator that mounts to the firewall does unbolt. Be sure to disconnect the battery first. My old original regulator that I removed many years ago was quite shiny so I am assuming it was gloss black.
Glosssssay. Top comes right off with two 1/4" bolts if you don't want to remove the whole thing off the firewall.
Shy Kneeeee Glo Seee BTW, you can "creatively" borrow that cap and make it fit onto one of the newer electronic regulators
Voltage regulator , non Ac heater box and air cleaner all were gloss black from the factory. Take off any original regulator cover and look inside. You can see the original gloss black in half of the inside. You can tell it was dipped in paint.
Be very careful when taking off entire regulator. The three screw holes strip very easy. Worse putting back.
