Since i reverse bled the brake system, it was my understanding that i didn't need to bench the MC first.

Reverse bleeding - meaning that I push fluid through the wheel cylinders, up to the MC

Incorrect. Only bench bleeding the master will take all the air out of it.

    I came across this article

    http://www.superchevy.com/technical/chassis/brakes/0509sc_bench/

can i do this with it installed in the car?

I dont understand how reverse bleeding does not clear all the air out of the MC... :puzzled:

nevertheless, i will do the bench bleed and hopefully that will fix my issue.

I'll tell you how I do it- I put the master in my bench vise. I install the bench bleding fittings and hoses (they make a kit), and fill the master. I take a large phillips head screwdrivier and use it to SLOWLY push the piston in. Make sure you push it in all the way. Repeat till no air bubbles come out of the hoses.

When you install the master on the car, the pedal doesnt fully push the piston in. So there is always going to be residual air in the master. Check out some Youtube videos, buy the bench bleeding kit and have at it.

Auto repair is not as easy as it looks on Hot Rod TV right?

With the help of a friend you can bleed in the vehicle still. Crack the lines open on the master, and have someone slowly start pushing down the brake pedal. When you see fluid start to seep out, close off the lines. Repeat a few times.
