My buddy has a 67 GS 400 built in Freemont (BF) and his has "7636" and "0411" at the bottom of the cowl tag as option codes, rather than letters.

    Anyone know what these are?

It is a low option car, early model I think based on the build info(12A build date, Build # 00648) and is a 4 speed car. Do these cowl tag numbers somehow translate to that?

Color code is RR, with black buckets.

    Thanks, Chris

My book shows interior trim code "184" in '67 to be "light fawn", cloth and vinyl for a skylark, including a custom, and just vinyl for a GS. I show "184#" to be light fawn and just vinyl with a notch seat for a GS.

I am not saying it is not Dove white. All I am saying is Buick's own Dealers Chassis & Body Illustration Catalog which is what the dealers used back then calls for interior interior trim color 184 "Lt. Fawn." It does not list dove white at all. It does list ivory but only for 9000 series(Rivs). As I read the book the white or ivory options outside of the 9000 series were offered in other model years but not 1967.

In a 4667, 4607 or 4617 which covers a GS coupe, hardtop or a convt., the only option that year for 184 interior trim is followed by "#" which means "Lt Fawn " "vinyl", no cloth , with a "notch seat."

Having said that Duane has the best handle on interiors. I am just passing on what the dealer books from back then say. Would be glad to fax anyone that Dealer page to review.

The 67 dealer's brochure mentions these colors as available on the GS 400:
Bucket seats colors are dove, black, blue, yellow or aqua in the coupe and sport coupe and black, blue, red or yellow in the convertible.
Bench seats in dove or black are available in all GS 400 models.

Of course, the dealer's brochures are sometimes incorrect but that's what written in it.

    Guys,
    Here is how the numbering system goes for 67 GS A-body interiors;

    First off the last number designates the color;
    --8 black
    --1 Dk blue
--4 Dove (Sometimes called Lt. Fawn, depending on the Factory source material used.)
    --6 Aqua (Turquoise)
    --7 Red
    --3 Yellow (Buckets only)
    --3 Saddle (Bench-no-arm only)

The 110's are standard front bench-no-arm interiors
The 190's are deluxe front bucket interiors
The 180's are deluxe front bench-no-arm interiors
The 160's are deluxe front bench-with-arm interiors

So if you had a trim # of 184 it comes out to be a Dove (Lt. Fawn) deluxe front bench-no-arm interior.

There were other colors available for 67, but they were not available in a GS.

I'll give you another hint, If you look at the part numbers for interiors in the Year One catalogue, it lists the Trim codes "in" the part number. I helped set up these "Smart" part number codes to make it easier for them and me, so we could make sure their customers got the right color interior for their car.

Now everyone can figure out their own 67 interior combinations.

    codes for 65

    Duane
I just pulled up my old capet and tar sound deadner from my 65. Under the tar at the shifter I found a 4" x 5" section of build? sheet with some option codes. It is pretty stained by 40 years of tar oil but here are the codes I can read:

    b-63-96
E W-05 ROCKER PNL. & WH. OPEN MOLDINGS
    b-85-98
H W-10 EXT. MLDGS. (BELT REV

    W B-30 FLOOR COVER

    B C-50 DEFROSTER

    ? W-23 SUNSHADE ( VISTA DOME)

    V B-39 CARGO FLOOR COVER

    F ?-33 MIRROR (REMOTE CONTROL)

    S W-15 SKYLARK-GRAN-SPORT

    Y Y-51 EXT. MLDGS. ( BODY SIDE &

that is all I can read. Wish there was more.

Hope this helps in documenting a 65 GS.

    Hi all,
Been following this thread, if i'm not mistaken the 'R' in the options code is supposed to be a rear speaker according to a prior post ??? I'm asking because R is the only option code on my 66 Skylark GS cowl tag, but my car came through with a radio 'delete' option :Do No:. Does anyone know for sure what the 'R' refers too ? Sorry if I maybe misread one of the earlier posts.

    Thanks,
    Harry

    Al,
Is it possible to get a copy of your buildsheet, and where was your car built/

    Harry,
If you could post a picture of your ID tag maybe we could work on it.
