Years back I bought a guide on date codes from someone on the board. My copy is long since gone and I cannot remember who was selling them.

So -- who sells it, can somebody send me a copy, or does someone have a link that explains everything?

I went to "Buicks.net" and downloaded all kinds of part numbers for years. Don't know if they have date codes.

I sell the Date Code book.

It shows how to decode date codes for all types of things including the date codes that are cast into the blocks, heads, intake, trans, etc. Therefore you could tell the date your block/heads etc. was cast.

However it does not go into the "date/time stamp" code that is stamped onto the block/head mounting surface. I do not include the info as to when the engine was assembled as a unit.
If you need that info I cannot help you.

I am looking to verify casting dates on some components, so your book will do the trick.

I see ordering directions on the linked thread above. Is paypal an option now? Is the price the same?

    Steve,
I will have my wife Beth check into shipping costs and yes we now can do PayPal. I print up the books when I need them so it usually takes me a few weeks to get them done.

One thing about the book, I have included a couple of examples of how to use the book to decode things. Sometime people do not "get it" at first and have a hard time. If this happens get in touch with me. A 10 minute phone call and you will be off and running. The book isn't worth anything unless you know how to use it.

It's pretty cool to see the "hidden History" of some of the cars. If people asked me, I would check over their cars at car shows. By checking out the date codes you could see which parts were changed and could often tell if they were in a major collision or not.

There are a couple of guys that won't let me in their garages any more.
    Oh well.

Plenty familiar with the book -- bought it five or six years ago. I suspect gave it to a friend who says he doesn't have it.

Duane, if you are printing could you make one for me? I have a lot of parts and it sure would be handy.
    Thanks,
    Ted

    Any progress on this?

I know you have plenty of time on your hands, what with Nick doing all the work....

    Yeah,
The cost of the books will be $40 plus $6 shipping (to the continental US) and you can PayPal or send a check/Money order to me.

There are 3 orders here plus a few others on other threads that I may not be able to find. I will get 5 made up this week.

If anyone else wants a book they should post it here, so I can find them, or PM me with their full name address etc.
    Duane

PS. This is not the first time I have hear that someone loaned out a book and did not get it back. One guy ended up buying 3 of them, his buddies kept them and gave him the money.

Duane, What's your Paypal? I'll transfer the cash this weekend when I get home. Thanks, Mike. Any chance of the trunk trim mounting slot measurements?

    Mike,
I will be going up there tomorrow. PM me your phone number and I will call you when I'm there and get this done.

I also need everyone's full name/mailing info so I can send out the books.

    OK,
I have the books in stock now.

I need everyone that wants a book to PM me their full name, address, etc and I will answer the PM and give you my billing info. This way it keeps it simple an I can get everyone what they need.

Right now I have requests here, on other threads, on my phone, and its a little too much.

    Gary,
I am glad to hear that. I made it to be a reference book that should be used and not just thrown on a shelf.

I will start contacting everyone tonight.

PS. You should thank Beth, she was the "Book Widow" for at least 4 months. It was actually therapy for me. It forced me to organize all the info into one package where I could find it.:D
