    I have updated the dealer code list. It now has 1900+ codes after my trip to Flint this summer.

    Do the dealers have records of these cars? Others? I am in the process of tracking the Dealer down for my car. I am hoping for some news in the next couple of weeks.

    Slim to no chance the dealer will have the info, always worth a try though.

    If you have the protect-o-plate or body order final sheet, you will find the dealer code on those. Probably on the body final too, and certainly on the orginal window sticker.:Brow:

    Dan;

    I wish I had that stuff; then I would not need to contact the Dealer. I am hoping to find some info. from the Dealer, if they still exist, have records, will let me look at them, so forth and so on.

    Thanks.

    If they happen to have that info.

    It would probably FILL 2 semi trailers FULL. :gt:

    But the biggest problem if you found out the dealer: Are they still in business. I bet less than 1 in 10 are still in.:ball:

    Here in Ohio, the way to trace a car is by the title. Have to go in person to the County records and have them do a title search. This will show the names and address of ALL previous owners within THAT county, and it will NOT show (if any) owners from other Counties. But it will tell you which county the car came from. Then you have to travel to that County, and possibly on & on....And if that isn't bad enough, many small counties have destroyed or lost old records! :af: :ball: :spank:

    But there is a chance you will get lucky, and find your car has always been in your area.:Smarty:

    Good luck on your search, Dan

    Dan;

    Thanks again for your help. I have sent a request for the DMV to do a search on the VIN #; since they charge a fee, I should get some kind of response.

    I know what county it was purchased from in the mid Seventies, I may visit the county records over the Christmas holiday. If I can't find any info there, I will have to drop back and punt.

    I'll keep pressing on.

    Hey Guys,

    Just thought I would let those of you on the West coast know, that my car (listed in my sig.) came from Putnam Buick, in Burlingame, Ca.....just a stone's throw from the Fremont plant...and they sure enough are still in business there.

    No original sales records are left, but they were nice enough to send me some dealer name, license plate surrounds. Since I still have the original black plates on the car, and have added the original license plate surrounds. Makes the car look that much better! Well worth the effort!

    I sent the info to register our 70 Stage 1 X to Marco. He indicated he would share it with you. The dealer is a stand alone Buick dealership that still exists. The owner's son who drove our car as his in 1970 demonstrator still works there. The dealer code was included in the transmittal.

    Hi Mark,
    Two of the 3 codes that I sent you aren't on the list anymore
    I don't know them but they should be mentionned in the other thread.
    They were for Boyd Pontiac-Buick In Lachute Quebec (zone 86) and for Sirois Automobiles in Trois-Rivieres Quebec (also zone 86)

    Thanks for any help.
