Date line of red to blue highbeam indicator?

I always figured that the red highbeam indicator was standard for the whole year in 1970 and starting in 71 it switched over to the blue indicator.
As I read about taller speedometer numbers changing to shorter ones and pointed guages in 1969 and maybe early 70 cars and spiral and non spiral plicell shocks and probably a million other things I haven't even considered yet I thought I should check with our extensive knowledge base here.
I bought my car as a rough 72 GSX clone but I had been collecting 1970 GSX parts forever so thus started the Obsessive compulsive desire to create what I cannot afford nor would I want to risk driving if I could.
So if GSX's were made after March (correct me if I am wrong please) I should have flat lense covers and short gauge numbers. So should I use the red high beam indicator? I am going to leave a few obvious 72 parts on the car like core support,N-25 bumper, trunk floor, dash pad mounted fasten seat belt alert, hood pop up and several other things but I want to learn more about our post March 70 cars in case I have other correct parts laying around that I can give a home. I am building the car as I would have "back in the day" (thus the N-25) and leaving it in barn find condition but will learn what I can so I can discuss our cars with folks a little better so thank you in advance for any guidence.

Use the red, John. Tall font, short font, pointed or flat, all 1970's used a red indicator.

Blue came in, if I'm not mistaken, after the 1971 model year beginning with the 1972 model year.

    Thank you very much Brad.

For some reason I feel like I am in the Matrix movie "red or blue, once you chose you cannot go back":eek2: lol

Okay now I will have to find something new to sit awake from 1:30 am till about 3 obsessing over. Hmmmm torsion bar diameter? Nah too easy....primer color behind dash for location GSX's were built? :idea2:Yeh that might be a good one lol

I believe that '70 GSX production began in about the middle of Feb. '70 and the last '70 GSX was built in June '70, if I remember a few threads that discussed that - some discussion about a July '70 GSX build date, but a confirmation of a June '70 as the last (then) confirmed. July is awful late in the annual build schedule, but I also remember seeing some other model '70 Buicks with July build dates .... albeit early July.

I have been curious about the trunk torsion bar diameter for GSX's myself for a while. Did Buick use some from another sister Division with an obviously heavier trunk lid? A '70 Grand Prix, perhaps. What's the diameter of the '70 GSX torsion bar vs. the regular GSs?

71 still used red high beam indicator. Speedo in my 71 was date coded original. January 71 on speedo. Car is late March built 71 still had red. No idea if they ever went to blue in 71 or stayed with red all year. I know Olds used blue in 71. All speedos had date codes. That is your answer. Simple.

I owned a mid June 70 built olds W-30 . Mybrother owned a mid July built 70 Cutlass. 70 was a big year for cars. I guess they wanted to crank them out until the last minute.

Date codes on speedos are printed on top of the circuit boards on back. Very visible.

Senior series Bucks had blue indicators for sure in 1971.
