The other night I was driving my Rivi and I stopped for some gas and after getting gas I turned the lights back on and the dash lights wouldn't come on but the turn signal..hazard flashers all worked.. Brake lights work and turn signal works but the rear tail lights don't come on but the headlights do. I checked fuses and nothing was blown but replaced them anyways. Is my dimmer switch bad? Would that be reason the dash and rear tail lights don't work?

More likely that the headlight switch is bad, if you replaced all the fuses. There are two different circuits for these, but they both go through the headlight switch. Use a test light to verify that both fuses are good before you dig into replacing the switch. I've seen many a fuse that looked good but wasn't...even when new.

They're on the same circuit for a reason--no dash lights is a big warning about no tails. I'm surprised it's not blowing a fuse; the '64 Skylark vert I drove in college would. It was weird; I'd drive it for weeks with no problems, then blow a whole pack of fuses in a weekend. When a passenger sitting corresponded with the 'pop' I knew to look beneath the rear seat where I found bare wires grounding when the rear seat was used. Start tracing wires to the taillights.

OK I just got the new headlight switch and tried that and still exact same problem. I'm gonna replace every fuse with a new one and see if that helps. I will retrace the wires to because I have a color coded wire chart for my Riviera

I just used test light and retraced all my wires....found no short and everything in fuse box lights up except this little fuse. I replaced it and still don't like up but hazard lights worked in the first place...New switch wasn't the problem cause I got power at the switch for both new one and old one with test light...What is the next step I should do? I have a color coded chart for my 68 Riviera and still can't figure out why my dash lights. Parking lights and rear taillights are out
