Damaged Flange on Mickey Thompson Super Scavengers

I have a pair of NOS Mickey Thompson Super Scavengers lying around. I was told they had been hanging on the wall of a speed shop for thirty years before a board member obtained them, after which I purchased them. they certainly look like they were never mounted to anything.

Any way, the flange on one of them was cut between exhaust ports in one place-- about a 1/2" wide rough cut gap. It does not affect the mounting holes or sealing surfaces.

I suppose I could get the flange weld repaired, but am not sure if I want to risk distortion.

Would such a cut have any adverse effect on the sealing of the headers, i.e. would it be more prone to leakage when mounted?

Getting ready to have them ceramic coated, so now is the time to do something.

Left/ drivers side? That cut was made for oil dipstick clearance. Common. It wont affect anything

Lots of headers get cut like that. It's not uncommon for the flanges to not line up perfectly. A little wiggle room is needed.

They are, they just aren't cheap! A friend of mine had a set for sale. If you are interested, I will see if he still has them.

I always said I would never pay $700-$900 for a set of headers...Until I bought some aluminum Stage 2 heads..Guess I was BS'ing myself... I'd love to have some Scavengers, but I am still running my Kenne Bell ones that are still decent shape.

We had a chance to get new ones a couple of years ago from Torque Tech. He needed 25 orders to produce them. He only got like 5, I was 2 of them. Torque Tech retired the next year so I dont know what happened to the jig for it.

Yep, we tried. I think when Keith shut it down he had 7 deposits and two were mine and two were yours. I think the high deposit and the high cost scared a lot of people away. But if you find anyone selling a new, un-used set of the GSCA repros you will pay $800-$900 plus shipping. I paid $550 for my new GSCA repros four years ago and that looks like a real bargain now.

Yeah, I think I paid a bit more than that for these...

I appreciate all the effort you put into it. So many people said they wanted them but I guess after issues with other vendors taking money and never delivering, there was a scepticism hanging over the deal.

Find the jig and I'll buy it from him, I plan on making these in the future and it would save my a ton of time and effort.

I was considering , at the time trying to do something similar. I love mine, and know several locals here who would like to have a set.

I offered this b4 but I can convert your standard headers to super scavengers,...

How much do you reckon a conversion would run?

The tooling is owned by three people. Maybe you could "buy" the rights to use the tooling to have a run of them made. I believe the tooling is at the company that actually makes the headers. I think Keith would still make a batch if we could get 25 deposits. But after two years of trying, we could only get 7 deposits...
