... my Stage-1 Buick 455 Regal is going to JOHNNYLARK'S mechanic early Saturday (tomorrow) morning. :TU:

My dual Derele fans will be wired correctly with a manual 40-amp toggle switch, dual 70-amp relays, and dual 40-amp fuses. Also, my Holley 850 will be adjusted correctly (Ralph unauthorized screwed with my Holley that GSX-Steve rebuilt/modified), and my engine's total timing between 33-34 degrees TOTAL ...and add the timing tape. I'm buying a timing light in 2 weeks. Also, I'm going to ask the shop to check/tighten ALL fuel line fittings, and remove the Teflon tape Ralph added. Plug change, and oil change also.:TU:

Johnny's 455 Skylark runs 11's ... and has had NO issues at all, Thank God. THAT'S why I'm taking my Buick to him. He's also much closer than STAGE-1 AUTOMOTIVE in New Jersey.

    ... worked on my Buick 455 Regal today;

    2.jpg 1.jpg 4.jpg
Power brakes worked one day, and not the next, and so on. I found the culprit myself; it was the SOLENOID (metal "t" that has rubber vacuum hoses connected to it, and the black wire attached to it) that wasn't grounded/bolted onto the metal area above the inner fender well.
MY ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP & POWER BRAKES WORK PERFECTLY. :beer

Also ... get a load of the wire connectors RALPH installed.

I took my time today, and corrected that (now I have GREAT power brakes, Thank God), and a few other issues I discovered. I Thank God for giving me and my back & legs the power to do what I did ... without spending over $100 today for the vacuum pump issue. I also rerouted the wiring ...the area looks much better now.

Tomorrow, Tyrone, my vacuum gauge, and I are going to adjust my Holley850 and make sure the timing is 33-34 degrees TOTAL.

You-The-Man ... I ordered NGK plugs (2 sets) from Summit this morning.
I really appreciate your advice ... makes me feel I'm on the right track.

I took these photos around 5pm today. I also seem to have gotten that LEAN-POP out of the Holley. Thank God that my disc-fusion surgery allowed me to do what I did with my Buick today solo. It's a GREAT feeling doing my own whatever I can.

Those were most certainly your problem, you are also pig rich, letting it idle and low speed operation all the time destroys plugs
    1. The car needs to be stretched out once an awhile to heat the plugs to clean them
2.your idle speed is to low it should idle at no less than 900 in park
3.the idle mixture needs to be reset as it is one of the culprits to the plugs
4.timing needs to be 32/34 total with around 16 to 21 initial.
5.to set idle mixture turn idle screws all the way in then back all 4 out 1 turn if it doesn't crank go 1.5, if need be turn idle speed screw in to allow it to idle then adjust idle mixture for highest and smoothest rpm and Vacuum, then adjust idle speed to 900 or so in park and then turn idle mixture in and out in half turn increments as needed to gain highest vac reading, if you are able to increase idle speed by adjusting mixture screws at this point which you should, say it goes up to 1100 from the 900 you set the idle speed to then back off the idle speed screw so it comes back to the desired 900rpm. Object here is to let the car idle off the rifle mixture screws as much as possible and not the idle speed screw. Wish I could spend 20mins on it myself , it would be a different animal. Above is a lot of info I kmow but its simple to do, I explained best I know , your best bet is to take the car to Rob at Stage one and just tell him to treat it like its yours

I've watched and listened to your car and its lazy to rev and idled to low.

Thanks very much for your assistance.

My idle rpm has been 1000 for a few months now ... the 900rpm is what that video showed during testing/adjusting only.

After that video, I went back to the garage ... made more adjustments, while keeping the 13-inches of vacuum, and engine idle is back to the 1000-rpm.

Tyrone (my tranny builder) suggested that I do nothing more than re-check float levels, and add more fuel pressure (from current 6-1/2 psi to 7-1/2 or 8-psi maximum) UNTIL I put the new plugs in. After I get the new spark plugs in the motor, then I'll see how it runs BEFORE adjusting the air/fuel mixture screws (stumble @ 2200-rpm might go away with more fuel pressure) any more than I did today.

I did turn all 4 air/fuel mixture screws all the way in ... then backed the out turn-wise equally. I had the motor shut off 4 times, backfired 3 times, and at one point ... the Holley was making a weird loud wheezing noise with 3-inches of manifold vacuum. Later, my adjusting the A/F mixture screws got the motor running ... better than in the video.

My Holley dumped WAY too much fuel (blue smoke out of the exhaust smelling of raw fuel) when I turned all 4 A/F mixture screws 3-4 turns OUT from a "all-turned-in" start.

With 1 to 1-1/2 turns OUT from all-in-start ... got me the 14-inches of vacuum opposed to the prior 10-inches.

I can hardly wait for the new NKG plugs to arrive. Also, instead of my current .040 plug gap ... I'm going to a .050 gap with the new plugs. Apparently, that's what MSD suggests for a modified 10-compression V8 engine. Tyrone has his gap at .050 on his Pontiac 10-compression 455 GTO, and gaps to .060 at the track. Thanks very much again for your time and expertise.

By reading your engine set up and car set up. I was wondering, what is the gallons per minute on the carter electric fuel pump?

... the Professional Products replacement fuel pressure regulator, does NOT regulate. This was replacement #2. Regardless of how much I turn the Allen bolt in/out ... 6-1/2 psi of fuel. This replacement Holley regulator shipped out to me today ... will get it in 72 hours. I went to adjust the regulator to 7-1/2 to 8 psi ... a no-go.

Tyrone just told me that he received 3 defective regulators before.

    Good afternoon, ALL.

I spoke with Bruno-The-King earlier today regarding my TOTAL timing adjustment back to 34-degrees again.

I am scheduled to meet Bruno on Wednesday, so he can use his timing light that gives total timing readings.

The timing light I bought, and the timing light Tyrone has DOES NOT give total timing readings.

My engine pings/detonates above 2500-rpm since this video's date ...

Your timing light will read total timing you just have to bring the rpm up while checking it.
