eliminating the rf adapter is a great way to go.
i would think that alpine would sell an "aux" adapter for something like a walkman type of use.
lemme see what i can scrape up. and i will keep ya posted.

alpine KCA 800B might be what you are lookin for ...
it was sold back when your radio was a current model.
here is a pic from the 2000 Car Stereo Review annual product directory (page 180).
finding one might be a little tricky ...comb the local tune shops...talk to the installers themselves.

    Alpine

OK, I was told I needed a KCA-121B Ai-Net connector . I tried and had no luck in finding a picture of a KCA 800B. I posted a picture of a KCA-121B, is this the same? AL.

    Alpine XM

I was told I needed to use the adaptor because the head unit is not XM ready and adaptor being used with a KCA-121B would not be using FM modulation but supplies a "aux" for added components, AL.

    Crossfire

3 or 5 channel. I would do the 5. Right know I'm very happy with the Tsunami GXA 5330 Amp. I was told this was not a very good amp, I must have got a good one. I went to a Alpine CDA 7878 reciever and that made a big difference in sound quility on ((XM)). AL.

I used to be the sales manager over at Crossfire and they are really great amps and very reliable, the VR705D amp that you are referring to was a good seller for us, what would have made it a great seller for us would have been to increase the power in the sub side of the amp, that was the only complaint we had with that amp other than that you couldn't beat it. As far as the soundstream amplifier that you are referring to that too is a good amplifier, depending on what the impedance of your subwoofer is you may want to look into the VR600D if you wanted to keep all the amps matching that was also a good bang for the buck amplfier. Alot of manufactures are "slapping" power ratings on the amps and selling them as rated power. The CEA rating has caused some controversy regarding power ratings, it is extremely easy for companies to "twaut" (spelled wrong) the ratings in order to sale crap. Very few companies are still building there amps in the US and due to the cost a lot of companies have switched from Korea to China based assemblies the China quality has been sporadic but if the compaines keep a close eye on the product and do their own QC when it hits there doors to maintain the quality it would be fine but some of the bigger name companies have gone through this experience and some have practice it and some have not and there has been a string of defects. But all in all do your research and remeber it may be cheap no but it may cost u in the end due to the cost of repair charges or shipping charges that is the one drawback with buying over the internet, you may pay more form a retailer but knowing that if you have an issue you can take it back to that authorize dealer and get it squred away asap. But hey thats just my .02, and I'm sticking to it!

Still in the industry after 15 years!! :TU: I love this stuff!
