So just to make the confusion clearer, you mounts you have on your car are aftermarket. That's the type that used to come in the box of every auto parts store shock absorber. From the factory and on GM replacement shocks, the lower mount was attached/ staked to the shock and looked like the one I posted on the first page. They were not meant to be removed. Steve is selling a reproduction of the original style
Nah I've chunked a bunch of the factory ones, when I'd part a car I'd leave the shocks hanging in the car and off to the crusher it went
Yes will be making them from bar stock. Just more work to stake a washer on and there's no chance of it coming off if it's one piece. The double nutted version shown is another style of aftermarket mount. Thinking back that was the 1st style used by the aftermarket until Monroe simplified it by just using a fat head bolt.
Just an update. Machinist is making a prototype to verify my dimensions are correct. Will be getting a due date soon. thanks
Steve, Put me down for two sets. Since you ran out of the kits a few years ago, I’ve been buying the Monroe lower shock bolts (P00576) from RockAuto. https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/monroe,P00576,shock+mount,7572 Are you saying that Monroe quit making these?
