I believe the GS models had a 15" painted rally rim with a trim ring? Did this apply also to the non-GS cars, or were they 14" ? Don't think chrome rally's were an option that year. Would like to try and find correct rims to fit my survivor 73 Luxus which currently has 14" rims with factory wire covers. Other option would be to powder coat a set of so-so chrome rally's and install trim rings?
Chrome rally wheels were an option in 73. All the ones I have ever seen were 14" from the factory. Not saying other sizes weren't available.
Hey, Sean, those are the rims I was leaning towards, but there seemed to be a large number of choices. According to a private response from a forum member associated with an appraisal service, chrome, painted with trim ring, 14 and 15 inch diameters were available and therefore "correct." Chrome rims are the easiest to locate used or "new," so will likely be my option as I prefer the styling and want to fill out the wheel wells and improve handling.
I think the chrome Rallye wheels were available on just about any Buick from 65 up through the 80's. The question is, were they 14" or 15". According to this, http://midsizebowties.net/buick-century-specs-1973-1977/ The tires were 15", but I have another Buick Book saying the stock tire was a 14". The painted wheels with the trim ring were the Super Sport wheels. They were available on my 70, not sure about later cars. I think by 73, it was the chrome wheels.
Anyone know/have link to a place to get the chrome trim rings? I have a set of 15" that were left out in the rain and have started rusting around the edges.
I think they are the same as Chevy 15" wheels. You should be able to find them easily. https://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/wheel-trim-rings I'm sure there are differences. I would measure the ones you have and go from there. Once you know the specifics, maybe call around.
