Eastwood carries most of the coverings you will need. In my experience a little expensive but the quality is good and everything is readily available. Here is a link to the Team Chevelle site that I used for direction of color choice when I did my engine bay. http://www.chevelles.com/shop/resto_5.html
http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/firewall-forward-finishes-and-markings-part-deux.55559/ Details in this thread! I like the Hirsch product but lately snuck in some red and black Duplicolor rattle can paint from Advanced Auto. Ford Semi Gloss Black...forgot which red I used.
I've actually used two different brands of semi-gloss black spray-bombs just to keep it more interesting in there. This way they are not a perfect match; not all those underhood components originated from the same sub-manufacturer.
Hi Dave I bought two cans of Krylon 2114 and found them too dark. The red borders on a burgundy shade. Cheers Randy
Randy, too dark based on what? You cannot compare it to what other paints people are using now. Why do you think they are correct? It is almost 50 years after the fact. Perceptions drift over the years. The Krylon is correct. The Buick red was a bit Darker than most think. Some paints used now are too pop red.
Hi Dave Well, I guess I was basing it on the fact that everyone was/is stating that Duplicolor 1608 was correct for our Buicks. In that regard, then the cans of Krylon that I have are far too dark. I have searched the web trying to find a period colour photo of a Buick engine to compare, but have been unsuccessful to date. Cheers Randy
I'm using a Duplicator Engine Enamel Red. Not exactly sure the # but it looks damn nice and I'm not particularly picky about being 100% authentic. Will post a pic when i get home.
