Anyone know for sure what bolts were used for the 66 aluminum valve covers and/or did the imprint on the head change through 64-65-66? Did they always have the raised flanged head as pictured and assume they were always plated? Is this bolt correct? I've seen others with different insgnias on head. Thanks
I only had one set of '66 originals. They were the chromed 'hex flange' , or 'indented hex flange' you pictured. I'm thinking they are the same as standard non-chromed ones, but don't recall the head markings, I'll have to check. Valley cover bolts are similar. I think the ends on those are flat and the valve cover bolts are semi-pointed?
Thanks Guys! Walt - appreciate it if you can check yours when you get a chance. I'm going to have to hunt down 3 of these so that's why I want to confirm. The bolt in pic is not tapered at thread end but I have seen others that are. Makes sense they might be tapered to help find/guide into the hole when installing bolt through the free space under the cover.
Jason, i might have couple of those as i went Stainless route, i will have to check in my ''oldboltswhichcanbeofsomeuse'' box:grin: and i will send them. Peace,
Jason, i have found the bolts for valve covers and for valley cover. Funney thing is that i have just 3 of them valve cover bolts....they are plated and pointed at the end and have that NL marking on them. Valley cover on the other hand have ''L'' and recession on head isn't hex but is round instead. Send me Your adress and i will check how much will be shipping to You.:beer
