It would be nice to see you two there. I hope you plan to bring the "wagon" as I have never seen it run.

Last year was my first time on a drag strip, and even though my time was embarrasing as heck, I had a great time.

I only got to run once due to rain and an accident, so it time to try again. :TU:

Loyd and I will be there. I think we have a small group caravaning from Chi-town on Friday so that we can eat dinner together Friday night.

So which car is the "new" car? What can we look forward to seeing?

My GS is down for the count, it's getting fuel injected. To be unveiled next spring. This should be interesting.

    See you there, Mark!

    Shari,

Sounds like this may be alot of fun.

Be good to see you both .

The car is just a plain jane skylark that we are putting the stage 1 455 engine I built last year into. Drop in the engine, tinker a bit here and there and slap on a nice 3.42 posi and its ready to play with. :Brow:

:) Whew! For a second I thought you were going to thrash my old Black!
Take good care of it. It's been retired from the track.:beer

    Roger

I would never ever thrash a car. :Dou:

Last week the water pump started to leak a little coolant. Cant have that, so the engine was pulled out. I had to teach that engine some manners and not to widdle on my garage floor so it got a time out in the corner of the shop :spank:

Just so happens I had a wonderful 455 sitting on the stand just begging for a car to go riding in.:3gears:

Sorry to hear that!:( That's why I like buying better than selling.
Take it personal when I hear about troubles. Hope you don't encounter
any other problems. Nice to have a spare 455 on hand although a new
water pump would be a little easier.:Do No:

    Roger,

Cars are mechanical, and parts wear out. I didnt bother me, and it was really just a small leak.

It may well have been easier to change the water pump, but you have to admit that this will be way more fun.

Besides I really had a ball last year at this track, it was the first time to do this.

After having one messed up summer, I want to have some fun now. With any luck, Mike Attwood will be there again taking pictures, if so, I'll send you one

OK Mark, thanks for trying to ease my mind.
I kind of had a feeling you were looking for a reason
to put that 455 in. I can just hear that car saying first time
you ran it, "Whoa, what's this!" "I feel like a young hot shot again"
Maybe I ought to try a transplant of some sort. I know where I
    would start!

I noticed your location is Mt. Vernon Iowa. How far away from Lynch Chevy, Ford and Pontiac are you? I have a daugther and son-inlaw going to college there at Cornell. My wife and I will be at Cordova with our '72 Stage 1

    Ed,

I live 3 blocks east of the college, across the street from the movie theater in town.

I will be there as well with the 72 Black Skylark. Hope to meet you
