    Peter,

I assume you're using a new gasket that has already been annealed.

Place some gasket sealer (I've used ultra-black & swear by the stuff) around the oil and coolant passages, on both sides of the gasket.

Then put your heads on and torque appropriately.

BTW TA recommends that after you torque the bolts, you let the engine sit overnight. Then in the morning, loosen & retighten (ONE AT A TIME) each bolt to torque. Then that night, repeat again.

If you torque the bolts 3 times over 24 hours like that, you won't have to retorque after startup.

I have done the same thing and it works well for me also.

Torque values and torque procedures are on TA's web site, www.taperformance.com, then look under "reference".

O-ring the block. This advice from a Buick engine builder. So until I do, mine are hanging on the garage wall as a display item to impress friends with.

If you do not have an excessive amount of compression there is no need to use a copper head gasket. Your block must be o-ringed. Make sure that all the surfaces of the block and gaskets have been cleaned. Coat the both sides of the copper gasket with copper coat spray. Apply two coats. Use a high grade RTV around the water only. Torque the bolts multiple times according to the manufactures specifications. This not only ensures a good seal but also provides the correct loading on the bolts. Copper head gaskets can be used multiple times.
