Hi Everyone!! I have a 70 GS, which is an automatic, which floor console shift, I would like to convert to a 4 speed with a M-22 trannsmission. . .I know it is going to take some work. I do know that I obviously I would need the transmission, shifter, and bellhousing. . .I have found this on parts place inc. https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/part/all-year/&part_no=MT1665S Will this be all that I need to convert it to a 4 speed parts wise? Any and all insight would be amazing!! Thank you in advance! Nick
That's a small block setup,...big block swap stuff is hard to locate,..Kliener was offering a pretty complete linkage kit but haven't heard about it being available lately. My suggestion is to go with a hydraulic setup,..then all you will need is the pedals which are readily available as is the major components trans, bell, etc. But if you want a stock style setup that will take some work Wheelz here on the board has a complete BB setup for sale iirc
Hi hugger. Thank you for the feed back! I am a tad confused though, the link from parts place inc, states its for a 400/455 motor. Thoughts? Thank you again for your insight.
Get a hold of buick64203 and ask about his swap on "the heater". http://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/the-beater-is-alive-and-well.347101/
It may "work" but the BB had a different clutch fork, pushrod,Z bar and adjuster,..I tried a small block setup and never did get it to work 100% rite. What they have pictured is small block components They do have a repro BB Zbar and I was thinking there was a repro clutch fork out there other than Kliener but I may be mistaken,... I'd still go hydraulic
