Need some help ! Bought a set of rear armrest/ well covers for my 69 GS400 convertible from Legendary with the install kit but I have never installed these and there is currently nothing in there for a reference. Any help would be great.
It's easier to see if you take them apart first. If the covers and insulation are gone, you have to get them fairly smooth. You don't have to sand them, just scrape any loose crap off with a putty knife. You can then paint them or not. If you have the kit, it's pretty easy. You use spray glue from like Home Depot, or brush on contact cement. The thicker felt covers go where the ashtray sits and overlaps a bit so it's padded like an armrest. Cut an X where the ashtray goes, fold under and glue. Then the thinner stuff goes on the bottom. once the insulation/padding stuff is on, you cover with the vinyl. Align the stitching on the edge(s). You can glue the vinyl on, I'd suggest just laying it over and glue only to the metal backside. Better chance of getting the vinyl smooth. Upholstering stuff is pretty easy, if you have the right materials (and glue). You have to be patient and not over cut stuff short. Here's a 'stang job, but they are all similar. http://www.mustangandfords.com/how-...nvertible-rear-seat-armrests/photo-gallery/#9
Thanks for the info that gives me a starting point. Anybody have any pictures of theirs for a reference ?
