Greg Schmelzer What are you looking at?!

An atheist was taking a walk through the woods, admiring all that the "accident of evolution" had created. "What majestic trees! What a powerful river! What beautiful animals!" he said to himself.

As he walked alongside the river he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look and saw a 7-foot grizzly charging towards him. He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing in on him. He ran even faster, so scared that tears were coming to his eyes. He looked over his shoulder again and the bear was even closer. His heart was pumping frantically and he tried to run faster still. He tripped and fell to the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up, but saw the bear ... right on top of him ... reaching for him with the left paw and raising his right paw to strike him.

At that instant the atheist cried out "Oh my God!"

Suddenly, time stopped. The bear froze in motion. The forest was ever so silent. Even the river ceased to move. As a brilliant ray of light emerged from the sky and shone upon the man, a powerful voice spoke to him, "You have denied my existence for all of these years; you teach others that I do not exist and you credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you now as a believer?"

The atheist blinked directly into the light. "It would be hypocritical of me to convert to a Christian after all these years, but could you instead make the bear a Christian?"

"Very well," said the voice from above. The bright light disappeared. All of a sudden, life resumed around the man. The river ran again. The forest became alive once more with the gentle sounds of nature.

The bear stirred. Slowly, he lowered his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head and graciously spoke: "Lord, for this food which I am about to receive, I am truly thankful."

    Cuttin up

There was this Minister who had been transferred to a parsonage out in the country.

He loved to once again be out in the country to enjoy the beauty that God had created.

There was one problem however. Being that he had come from the city he had no mower.

He didn't have allot of money either, but he did have a nice bicycle which he felt led to take into the nearest small town and sell to buy a mower.

As "luck" would have it as the minister was going into town he happened upon a young boy pushing a mower out towards the country.

The minister stopped by the boy and said "Son, where might you be headed with your mower?"

While admiring the ministers shiney, well maintained bike, the boy explained he was going to sell the mower to someone in the country , to get money for a bike!

The minister could feel the tears well up in his eyes as he realized this did not happen by accident.

The minister was encouraged to hear that the mower ran and after explaining his situation the the excited boy, the swap was made.

As the boy feverishly looked over the gleaming bike the minister gave the starter rope on the mower a couple sharp pulls.

He tried a few more times without any signs of the mower starting. So the minister looks at the boy and asks him "Son I thought you said this mower runs?".

The boy said "Oh yes sir, it runs, but sometimes ya gotta cuss it a little" the boy replied sheepishly.

The minister restrained the urge to laugh, but chuckled a little while saying "Son I've been a minister for over 30 years and I don't think I even REMEMBER HOW to cuss"

As the boy started to pedel off he matter of factly said " Just keep pullin on that handle,....it'll come back to ya!"

Just had to share that with ya'll.

    Fritz,

    That's a good one!!:TU:

    Reminds of of two things:
    • The Lord always provides for us!
    • Our 'old nature' will always try to creep back into our lives!

    Who knows?

    Two excellent points.

It is so obvious when I force something to happen with my own "power" and it is nothing but trouble the entire way.

Then there are those times when I'm reading my Bible on a regular basis (my toughest challenge) and praying for Gods will in all parts of my life and things just fall right into place.

The 2nd part about the ole nature creeping back is a good one too. I'm on allot more balanced level then I was in my younger years, but I still fall into the trap of worrying about what people think, verses what God KNOWS.

God even tells us in His word not to put our faith in man or things but sometimes it still gets me.

I don't know why it is so tough to accept "just" God (no offense there) knows the truth in many worldly situations but I feel I must clear my name down here.

Thanks for bringing that up though, the more I recognize it,and pray for Gods guidence, and will, the more I hope to handle myself in away that is pleasing to Him.

    Ok, off the soapbox now.

You're certainly not alone on that one!!:Brow:

I've tried to make that my main focus re: my personal life. After that...everything else just falls into place!!:TU:
