That 107 year old 1911 architecture was really designed with round ball ammo in mind.

Jim , being so close I have thought about moving up there many times. Only problem is working in Mass almost always would be an issue crossing border armed as I for sure would have to surrender Mass License. NH laws slow me to cross into NH no problem.

That Body Guard is tiny. I sold mine. Not convinced on 380 round.

    Bill, you mean 365?

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Kind of what I thought as well, but I'd rather she carry a weapon she's comfortable with. She has the magazine she carries loaded with defense rounds. She's a good shooter with whatever she uses and this one has a laser.

I pocket carry my Bodyguard every day unless it's cold and I can wear an over garment or vest. In that event I carry my Kahr CW45. So, if I can't conceal my .45 effectively, I'll go with what is comfortable in my pocket and that's the Bodyguard. My S&W Shield 9mm is just too much of a bulge in my pocket. Modern hollow point defense ammo has made the .380 a viable self defense round. Certainly not as good as the 40 cal or the 45 ACP but, approaching the 9mm in effectiveness.

Kahr .45 reworked by the gun smith. Compact and shoots well for a smaller .45.

    Convinced about what? Specifically.

In the real world, how are most self defense weapons actually used?

The LC9 or LC9s is a very nice pistol. I good friend of mine has one and we've shot each others (his LC9 and my Shield). They are about the same size and weight. I wear cargo shorts most of the time and carrying a 26 oz. pistol (loaded) in my front pocket is just too much for my taste. The Shield and LC9 also print from the outside.

The .380 Bodyguard is less than 15 oz. loaded and just disappears in the pocket.

Myself and a few friends all had LC9's when they first came out. They proved to be a very reliable piece and easy to carry. But we all suffered from the same problem, couldn't get happy with that long heavy double action trigger. So the LC9-S (s standing for striker) was introduced and I thought "perfect!". Then I went and shot one, and it was not like any other striker trigger I had experience with (Glocks, xd's, m&P's). Very odd mushy feel. One friend bought one and loves it, carries it to this day. I ended up with a G43 and haven't looked back, been very pleased with the balance of carryability (is that a word?) And performance.

Anyway, just my 2 cents on the LC9 series. Great gun, weird triggers (IMO, yours may differ).

Picked up a CZ P-10 c today. It's comparable to a Glock 19 sizewise. 15 round cap and a nice compact size. The LGS has some great special buys, this one was $379 with night sights.
Also have a Shield 9 that was $279. Added a Hogue grip which makes it fit my hand better and cures the slick feel of the first version's grips. Really like the feel of this one.
When I picked up the Shield, there was a Sig P229 in 22 cal for $250, 1 year old and in mint condition..... couldn't pass that one up! Perfect for back yard practice.
I presently don't feel the need to carry but like the option to do so. I'm more concerned with home security. Looking to add a light to the CZ, considering the Olight PL mini over the Streamlights.

I don't have experience with the Olights, so can't comment on that. But I do have a number of streamlights, including a couple TLR1's that have been rock solid. I gravitate towards them as I feel they are a nice balance of quality and affordability. The Surefires are supposed to be premo, but at double the price of the streamlight, I've yet to have a hiccup with my streamlights so I can't justify it. I'm not putting 5,000 rounds a year through a gun with the light mounted and going to war, so just my viewpoint. If you want something smaller than the TLR1/2's, they more recently introduced the TLR7 which is more compact (not as small as the 6's) but still puts out 500 lumens.

I just don’t like the trigger of the body guard. Long and slow. Too easy to jerk it low. That’s big reason I sold mine.

    Have you fired a Sig P226 & P229? I like them better.

Big guns are a chore to carry around concealed.
