If computer programmers are so smart, why on sites like Summit, do they ask the number of items to be viewed on the page on the bottom of the page? You have to scroll through 10 items first to get to the bottom of the page where you can select number of items per page and then you have to look at the same 10 items again! For that matter, if there's 200 of something, why would I just want to see the first 10? I just don't understand!

In the olden dial up days you would have to wait 3 minutes for a 200 item page with pics to load.

...because they're using a generic program with a subroutine with one variable (# of pages to display, default = 10) to present data...regardless of variable, when called, subroutine starts at top...what you want is easy, but then it would be a cu$tomized program...:)

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:I understand that (not really), but why can't they ask you at the top of the page? I'm glad that I'm stupid!:D

They all do that you look at the first page and by the 3rd page you are looking at the same items again. Then you get frustrated cause you can't find what you are looking for. Plus if you do not know the specific name of the part you will never be able to find it.

It is the most stupid thing I have ever seen I guess they want you to buy the part within the first 3 pages.

The search in Google is the same way by the 3rd page the search is in left field.

It never was this way back in 1998 when this thing called the web search started you could find just about anything and it kept looking, by page 3 you found what you are looking for.

I know people pay money to be first on the page you are searching but by page 3 it is useless, by then it is searching every word you put in.

I had this exact trouble on the Northern tool site I was looking for a safety lite for my tractor and I had seen this in their book so I went on line to find that particular model and I could not find it for the life of me. It sure was not under safety lights and lights and whatever else I put in for a search.

I had to actually punch in the product number into the search to find the light.

and get this, it was under Automotive lighting and it was within that search where it could be found. It was there only because this thing had a magnet on it so you could put it on top of your roof, it was a yellow spinning light.

Now wouldn't you think it would be under Safety lights but noo it is in Automotive lighting safety section. You punch in safety lights and it says they don't have that or it gave me other safety lights. I also put in yellow safety light and no answer.

That is how screwed up searches are on the net. Pain in the r....

You're not stupid:) You're using their search engine, and get what they want you to have. It's become very difficult in present advertising driven world to get what YOU want...

The ‘product people’ and the ‘list people’ don’t have much in common anymore. Same with paper parts catalogs-up until sbout 10 years ago Motorcraft and Delco published (to their parts guys) well organized catalogs that were easy to decipher. Now it looks like the engineers download a list of part numbers with vague descriptions and data entry folks make a list in alphabetical order. They’re a mess, but they force you to use a computer and the car’s VIN (and their software for a fee).
