I know this has been brought up quite a few times but just wanted to get some thoughts on the cam that I took out of the engine I just bought which is a comp cam 268h. The cam is in great shape and so are the lifters. Can anyone tell me what type of experience they had with this cam vs the TA 212 or another cam that someone was impressed with.

The comp 268H cam is a single pattern cam, same duration, intake and exhaust. Buick engines like a split duration cam in most cases. more exhaust duration to help out the exhaust flow. You have the engine apart now, you can do way better as far as camshafts go.

Or,if in the engine is apart anyway, do some exhaust porting only and run headers, that way the single pattern shouldn't be an issue.

In theory the comp 268 would be a decent low compression cam if you can get the exhaust out. Of coarse the TA 112 RV cam would be a better choice because it wouldn't need the extra exhaust porting and headers to make it work good.

If your getting different pistons for more static compression then you probably don't want to run that cam because it may make the dynamic compression to high for pump gas.
