Today is the day I trucked all the bits and pieces I've collected from different members over the last year to my builder @ Voss Racing. He's about finished porting and assembling the heads and said it was going to be a slow week at the shop so he wanted to get it together. I wont be ready for dyno by weeks end but close. You guys that have parts in this build know what your engines made before you upgraded. Chime in and list your contributions as well as a guess as to what the combo will make.

Michael Evans - the filled girdled block

Charlie Evans ( no relation) S3 bare head castings

Mike Garrison Solid roller cam, lifters N push rods

Larry Buzella Berte matched rotating assmbly

Lifter girdle S3 intake and deep oil pan new from TA. and a bunch of other misc stuff from 1/2 dozen diff members.

The cars are a few that were in the shop at the time. These guys are big into the 632 outlaw class and hold the track record at several tracks.

Ran into a few minor issues on the bottom end assembly. The Crank had to be polished about a thousandths, The rods will need to be resized due to being slightly out of round and for some reason I forgot to order the neoprene rear main seal with my gasket kit from TA. :Dou: Had to rework the chambers a bit to fit the domes on the Aries Pistons. overall not a big deal, just slowing down progress. My builder has to have it perfect.

Nice! And it is really nice that your builder is paying attention and doing it right. Reputations are made and broken, based on what is done, especially on the internet. Just think of what kind of scandal and/or drama it might cause if it broke, even with a known reputable builder.

You talking about the mains here Briz?

Red flag.. you cannot polish a crank .001... you might get .0002 out of it without making a rounded mess out of it, but no way your going to get a full .001.

If you need that much, you either swap to a different brand bearing (there is a full thou difference between 4664 Speed pro and 908P Clevites) or you open the housings up to the max size, or a few tenths over..

If you still can't get enough, then the crank goes back to the grinder... a talented crank man can take .0005 off, so .001 is no problem.

Jim, I do believe he was talking about the mains. Thinking he mentioned the .002 clearance being correct and 003 on the rods. I may have misunderstood all the facts and figures. I fix A/C's and work with much larger tolerances. I do know for a fact Kenny knows his stuff. No worries about it being right.
