Also check out shiny black heater box against flat black firewall. Why doesn’t anyone restore them this way? They Always paint same shade. Assembly line put box on after firewall was already painted that is why it is not same shade. Shiny air cleaner too.

I also spy a white line running the length of that upper hose.

It's also a Manual brake, stick shift car. "MC" above the master cylinder. Most likely an early car and non-AC.

I don’t think the stripe is white. It looks like the same hose as NOS hose I had on my GSX. Stripe is kind of a Guldens Mustard Brown/Yellow and stripe appears imbedded right in the rubber. You can see it in mine.

Great pic. Decal on the front of the block & MC as @Duane noted
What's the tip off about it being an early car? MC=Master Cyl. (Only, i.e manual brakes)? What was written for Power Drum & Disk? (I know there's a thread on here somewhere where you cover this)

Good to see you yesterday. Glad I'm not the only one to lose a piece of glass that way:).

I think MC stands for Manual/ Clutch, as in manual brakes and clutch. My firewall says "PC" for power/ clutch

"What's the tip off about it being an early car?"

    Two things,
    1. Its a manual drum brake car. I don't remember when discs became mandatory for 70 Stage 1 cars, but the later ones all seemed to have discs. I had an early 70 Stage 1 car with manual drums.
    2. If you look at the non-ac heater box on the firewall you will see that the clip for the wire is screwed in the middle of the box. That is an early 70 thing. Later in the year they used one of the bolt holes for the clip and did the same thing for 71-72.

You can also almost see the decal on the face of the driver side valve cover.

PS. The "MC" on the firewall is a Flint thing. My 69 Canadian built GS does not have that on the firewall.

Flint cars either had "M, P, or D" for Manual Drums, Power Drums, or Power Disc, and if they had a "C" next to it, that designated it as a clutch car.

    Yep.

Disc brakes may not have been mandatory until the 71 production year. I just remembered I had an April/May 70 Stage 1 4-speed car with Power drums. My Manual Drum 70 Stage 1 4-speed was built in Sept/Oct of 69.
