    COLD....??

O.K Guys lets be realistic. I got you boys all beat. I live in the northern part of Ontario, Canada. The tempature at this moment is a brisk -8 degrees C. This really sucks man:gt: Last winter I spent 250$ to heat my well insulated 28 by 30 garage. It gets
-40 here in January. Not the ideal weather to get up in the morning and go to work. At least in the fall the hot rod runs super good due to the dense air. It just ain't fair...:stmad: you guys get to take your toys out in march. Me on the other hand i'm lucky if it doesn't snow in april.

Oh please... STUPID cold, at least here in the states, is 40 below zero, with 30 mph winds... I remember a New Year's Eve with those exact conditions about 15 yrs ago... stayed home that night :eek2:

    Not quite..

Mark, Alaska also has the right to secede from the union in their state constitution.:Smarty: If I had a job lined up when I got out of the service, I would have stayed up there. You can carry sidearms, salmon fishing is UNBELIEVEABLE, and it is bear season year round. If you have never eaten bear meat, you must try it, especially in the spring time when they come out of hibernation and they have no fat on them. It is really sweet tasting meat due to all the berries they eat when they wake up. You can also still homestead up there. Just pick a 5 acreplot of land that the state owns, fell some trees, build a cabin and stay there for five years and it is yours. Plus, you can't see all your neighbors.

As far as stupid cold, it IS up there. I woke up one morning in the Tanana River valley where I lived just outside of Fairbanks, (Anchorage does not count as Alaska!) and the ambient temperature was an astounding -67*F. I had two 900 watt block heaters, a 100 watt battery blanket, a 200 watt tranny pan heater and a 900 watt interior heater installed on the truck, and it still argued when I tried to start her up. Can't blame her though! I had about a 40 mile drive to base every day. I blocked off the radiator with a couple pieces of cardboard and the temperature gauge NEVER moved off the bottom of the gauge! :eek2: I would still like to live there, but it takes a lot of $$ to make it there. Except the gas is cheap.

They aren't giving away land for no reason up there! It may be one of the most beautiful places on earth, but I jst couldn't deal with the cold. When it gets around freezing down here I start crying, and bitching.:ball:

Mark, You would be surprised what a person can get used to. I was in the AF at the time and was stationed in sunny Florida when I got the orders. Talk about shock:eek2: But we did get used to it. I remember my daughter going outside to play one day without her coat. I told her to put one on and she tried to tell me it wasn't cold out. It was -15*F. We went from mid November until mid February with the HIGHEST temperature reached was -45*F. Then one day it hit -10* and we were trying to light the BBQ and have a cookout. Man it felt warm that day.:eek2:

    Guys,

Really cooled down here in GA the last day or two. Highs now at about 68 degrees with lows to be in mid to upper 30's. Should be nice next weekend for the Reynolds BOP. Cool weather really makes those turbo cars run strong! SDR is a quick track and good cool, crisp weather would be icing on the cake for next weekend.
