Are you boys up north keeping warm? It's even gonna get chilly down here this weekend. Crazy October weather wise.

    uhhhh......... YEAH!

Hmmmmm, lets see, is it getting cold? Well, this morning I had to use my cigarette lighter to heat up my door handle enough to melt the ice that had formed inside so I could open it.. Last night while walking the dog, he got his tongue stuck to a metal porch railing (poor guy doesnt learn, hes been through 2 winters, youd think hed have it figured out by now) I havent installed the new master cylinder I have had for about 2 weeks now, cuz its been to cold to stay outside for more than 20 minutes yeah, Id say it was getting cold, but then again, Im a recently transplanted Florida Boy, so I am a little more used to warmer temps. The worst part about it is when I talk to my dad (still living down in Florida) and he talks about how it was horrible when he was working on his car last night, it was so muggy and hot, about 91 degrees, and that he better get the A/C fixed in his 64 Chrysler soon, he cant stand not having it working. MAN I wish I was home!

I'm still raking leaves, and flurries are predicted for today. Low for tonite - 15. High for tomorrow - around 35. "Sucks" doesn't begin to describe how I feel about it. I'm just looking forward to the family vacation the week of Thanksgiving on the outer banks.

  5. The whole month of Oct has been crappy up here, we've averaged about 10-20 degrees below our average hi temps all month long. It's only been in the 30's this week, with some snow flurries, but it's all melted when it hit the ground.

Corey, I really feel for you...TRUE winter won't be here for another month or 2... better get your car work done now if you don't have any heated space to work in...like me. On the brighter side, our longer range forecast is calling for 50-60 degree temps coming in about a week, since it's been in the 50's up in Alaska this week. We always get a warm stretch sometime in Oct or Nov...that's when I plan to get my car winterized before she goes to sleep for the next 5-6 months :ball:

Whats even worse is when you finally get your door unlocked, and the door won't latch shut after your in the car. I remember many mornings driving while holding the door shut with my left hand on my '72 LeSabre.

Cold tools and cold hands = :ball:
Fortunately, I have a wood stove in my garage to heat myself and my tools with.

In thinking about my old LeSabre and winter.
I remember when I didn't have enough anti-freeze in it. And one very cold morning fired it up and began to smell burning rubber. WTH?
Then after the alternator light came on I popped the hood and found that all my belts had been melted. The water pump was froze solid and the lower pulley burned them in 1/2.
I never heard any squeeling or anything.

  9. Re: SUNNY IN SA

Been to TX a few times...to SA once for a college baseball spring trip...the Riverwalk was "interesting"! Got a sister in Lubbock, been there once... Spent a few days in McAllen and South Padre... All in all I liked what I saw in TX, not so sure I would mind living there at all :TU:

  10. Re: uhhhh......... YEAH!

Corey, hopefully you already know, but just in case... make sure you have a 50/50 mix of antifreeze/water in that 67...now...

And if you have water in your windshield washer system, dump it and replace with washer fluid for the winter, and run some thru the hoses before we really freeze up.

Ain't TX still tryin to become it's own country? Ya couldn't give me the weather there.. lol

It's not too shabby here in CA. Overcast 70s & 80s days and 40-50s nights.

I feel for you guys already gettin snow & ice. :( I doubt I could handle it...

We are the only state that once was a country (Republic of Texas) and still has the right to secede from the US in our State Constitution. When Clinton was President, most folks down here were ready to secede.:Dou:

I always figured with all the defense contractors in Texas, we could put together a pretty salty little military! Plus damn near EVERY Texan has at least one or two guns lying around for protection.

Gotta love Texas. Rust free parts, plenty of junkyards, good driving weather 11.8 months of the year, and artists like Pat Green! If I had to live anywhere else, it would have to be NJ. Half of the cars I have ever run across for sale online were in NJ. I don't know what it is...:Do No:

Chris, I have noticed that too. What is the deal with Jersey....and the NY area also. Lots of cool cars.

It seems that the NorthEast is the place to be for the desirable stuff (although it may not be in the best of shape due to the weather). That is where I picked up my current '70 GS. This particular one was in the Hammonton (Sp?) area of central NJ, very nice countryside. We went at the very end of may last year, and it was 70* outside! I can't imagine the winters up there, I don't know if I could survive:shock:

I'm on vacation at my parents in western Nebraska. Started snowing yesterday around 2 pm and was still snowing at 9 am this morn when I crawled out of bed. About 3" total. What sucks about it is that its not even enough to put the truck in 4x4 and go have fun.

  19. :Do No: Winters and snow are no big deal...you learn to live with it and adjust... I'm not saying I LIKE winter, but I've lived thru 41 winters so far, and I'm still somewhat sane... [IMG]

    brrrrrrr

Snowed here in Northeastern Ohio on and off all day yesterday. Snow and rain....rain and sleet...sleet and freezing rain. Yep we got the whole package yesterday. Today its just been down right cold. Tomorrow is trick or treat and they are calling for snow. Accumulations not expected until Friday nite- saturday. Looks like I'll be staying in all weekend!

Actually---I love the snow and the winter months, as long as it doesnt get stupid cold like below 0 with wind chills even lower.

What happened to our autumn though...temps are way below where they should be for this time of the year.
