was running a 750 edelbrock. it is really low profile. take a good look this set up it is getting fresh air, right from the very front of the car, good if you want the stock look.

I never really cared much for the ram-air kits being sold for several reasons. First, the duct work. Unless it is smooth on the inside, those dryer-vent hoses are just going to slow down the air flow and cause turbulence. Second, any turn in the ducting kills flow. Air doesn't like to go around corners. Third, you are killing the amount of area that you have to let air in. Two small inlets can't support anywhere near as much air flow as a 360 degree open element air filter.

I think the "cold air" aspect of these kits is overrated. Flipping the air cleaner lid over or perforating the bottom of the base of a closed-style air filter housing, which will draw in "warm air", increases performance.

If you are running an open-element air filter and suspect you are loosing performance because you are drawing in warm/hot air, what happens on those nice fall nights? It feels like you gain 30HP. The fact is so much ambient air is being drawn in anyway that it disproves the "cold air" theory. At the track, once you get moving the heat-soaked engine compartment gets cleared out pretty quickly.

I agree that the Stage 2 scoop and a sealed pan will pick up. I am not convinced that these "cold air" kits do much of anything at all.

Is it possible at all to use an underbumper ram-air set up with the factory ac still in place ? I've always wanted to make one but space and room constraints seem to be an issue in my engine compartment. :puzzled:

If my car was not turbocharged I would just use the stage 2 scoop like I have and get the air straight in the scoop and into an air filter... I would build a foam seal to make sure the air has no choice but to go into the carb.

I opened my hood up under the scoop just to get fresh air to cool the engine bay and it seems to work well, not that it had any overheating issues cruising but I imagine it would get warm on extended drives or when racing.

Just copy my setup and then fix up something to get the air in the carb.
