Im looking for the factory-correct clutch fork and Z-bar,for 70 GS 455,or possibly even a good picture of the correct parts,to compare with what I have.
Hello I could not find a good Z bar and after market from what I have heard are junk so I found a Z bar off a chevy truck and repositioned one of the bars on the tube for the clutch and welded it back on and is working fine and the ball stud for block is more common than the origanal as they are larger diameter or the extra one I have is. I also made the bracket for the frame from 1/4 inch plate. Also when welding arm on try and keep it cool as will melt plastic socket inside hope this will help
Dave Kleiner sells a kit for Big Block Buicks that has the correct Z Bar. PM me for his number if interested.
Yes,I could make something work, but I need this to be correct/original for this application. I have one with a grease fitting, that I think is from my Buick, but I have nothing to match it to for a reference.
PM me your email and I will send you photos and detailed blueprint schematic I took of OEM big block bell crank and fork.
Trick, I might have an extra one. Have a complete 4 speed set up I am going to sell. Just sold the 67, 70 silver Stage 1, 70 Skylark complete rust free parts car and my old Silver 70 car. Have a brand new set of TA Stage 2 TE heads in the box, Dual 4 barrel intake with carbs and linkage, Stage 2 headers. Tons of stuff let me know soon what you need. Chris
Damn the bad luck! I am looking all over the shop for the drawing and I pray to God I didn't toss it when I redid the man cave. I'm also scouring the computer for the photos but am not finding it.
I found a photo of The Parts Place bell crank I blue printed to compare to factory. It was damn near spot on with geometry to the OEM fork but the pivot ball hole was much smaller not allowing for a factory block pivot ball set up and it did not have the provision for a bushing for the clutch pedal rod through the fire wall...To use TPP crank, drill that out using a 7/8" drill and push in the Corvette end link bushing same as the bushing used in the fork to bell crank clutch rod. You also have to buy their smaller block pivot ball. They all have a grease zerk. Hope this helps. The other photo shows a small block fork on the left (no hitch pin style) an OEM big block fork on the right and a Kleiner re-pop in the middle.
