Has anybody been in business with Chromeguy http://www.chromeguy.com/ or chromeminer at this eBay store http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQ...dsperpageZ50QQsosortorderZ1QQsosortpropertyZ1 I purchased a rechromed Bumper almost 2 month ago. All communication went well at the beginning, but since 6 weeks, he does not respond anymore to eMails or through eBay, and the phone number on his Chromeguy site here above never answers (only a voice mail, day and night). He must be alive as I can see some recent activity on his eBaystore. o No: o No: If one of yours knows him and can give me some news or contact data, before I claim a refund of my Visa card from the bank, I woud appreciate a lot. Thanks
No, Smartin, that was through his Chromeguy shop on the web. We had 3 or 4 mails exchanges and a couple of phone calls to settle the deal. I later found his eBay store thanks to some reserch engines who showed some forums where members advised that chromeguy and chromeminer were the same person. And people seemed satisfied. I used ebay to ask questions yesterday: no answer. Although his feed back sounds good. Smells bad for my money....
He just answered on eBay saying that he had trouubles with his email box and the bumper was shipped. Strange since I used 2 different mail address, and left at least 3 voice mails, after having tried to ring at least 20 times...But I am patient. Let's wait and see...
Whats the update with your bumpers?he has a 67 rear bumper on ebay now and i`d like to purchase it but i`d like to make sure he`s on the money and not a clown, the bumper looks showroom on ebay and i wanna make sure whats picutred is what he`s selling. Thanks
Still waiting...other forum members PM'ed me saying that ChromeGuy is honest and provides good stuff, despite a bit messy with communication... So I trend to trust. The delay is not te most worrying thing, and I knew that without air shipment, I was prepared to wait for several months. What really disappointed me is the more than one month absolute black out when I tried to get info. Being in the US, I think you can order safely, and eBay will formalise the transaction a bit more than my direct purchase. egading the quality, I let more succesful customers comenting... o No: Good luck.
Hi Jean-Luc, I emailed the chromeminer guy, Michael, and actually got a reply back within 2 days. He stated that he does use stock photos of bumpers. I took that to mean pictures of a bumper that he has posted with an auction, are not necessarily photos of the excact bumper that you will get. I told him that I am paying close attention to a particular transaction, to see if it ends up working out ok. I read his ebay feedback, it is interesting, and informative. He does have many customers who had to wait quite a bit for their bumper. He has multiple negative and neutral feedbacks. I don't know if I would buy from that seller, I will wait to see how your deal goes, and if you get the bumper that you expect, in good condition. Keep us all posted on that deal. Thanks. Joe
Joe, for sure I'll let everybody know. His feedback is not that bad...I guess chrome plating is a type of business you must have the most disputes with: quality, shipment, resistance, etc... Leave me some hopes !!!
Joe, :TU: :TU: Just got an e-mail from Mike -Chromeguy saying "a Buick Doctor" wrote to him. And he provided the shipping details. Should be shipped today from NYC and arrive in France by Jan 16. Thanks a lot for your intervention. Now I'll name you the "Buick Dog" !!!  :beer See my earlier post saying the Bumper was supposed to be shipped on Dec 11...Took 22 days to reach New York. But let' be fair and put that on the count of Chrismas hollidays. But before shouting victory, let's wait for the bumper arriving ! :Brow: Thanks again, Joe.
Got the Bumper today....early October 2004- End February 2005...I let you calculate the lead time. I am sure Joe's intervention helped, as the package was just shipped a few days later. I paid 600 USD including shipment door to door. And finally, I had to pick up the package myself at the Paris harbour, and pay 200 ($260) for handling upon arrival container discharge, etc.., and more 260$ in miscelaneous tax and customs duties (but this was normally for my account). That brings the rear bumper up to almost $1200. I hope this guy treats you guys in the US a bit more fairly. He never responded to my e-mails except the one after Joe kicked his ass...And I remained polite all the time.I had to retrieve all the delivery route through his hauler who hepled a bit more. I have to admit that the Bumper looks nice although I have not unwrapped it totally. The ony positive side of this bad experience.   :blast: :af:
I used the Chromeguy on my GS. He sent a 68 bumper (which was excellent) at first. 2 days later, he sent the right 69 bumper with a return label for the 68. All emails and phone calls went well. He was a nice guy to deal with (Mike?) Bumpers were both straight with nice chrome. I paid $500 (shipping included) from CA to RI. I do know through UPS, it costs ~$20 to ship a 68-69 REAR bumper to Colorado....
I`m ready to hit the buy it now option on a pair of `67 skylark front and rear bumpers, what do you guys think of the quality of these bumpers?are they show quality?should i buy them? Thanks
I bought those `67 bumpers from him,all went well so far but this morning i received the front and it turns out he sent me a `66 bumper so i just emailed him about it,will let you`s know. Thanks
Installed the bumper last week. Was OK except a little place where chrome was peeling on a 1 to 2 cm line. I'll post pics soon.
Last news, After a rainy day, I went to wash my car at a self service car wash with high pressure water. The chrome started to peel out like a banana in a place where no default was visible....Just had the time to stop, go back home, and glue the peeled stripes back to the bumper with fast cyanolit glue. I am talking of 2 or 3 sq inches) Fortunately located at the bottom, but guess how I am pissed of !!! :Brow: :Brow: :blast: :moonu: . I am now certain that Chromeguy did a **** job on my bumper.
A little update after 18 month of use: This Chrome Guy is a F.... B.... Lots of rust points appearing (the car sleeps in a dry garage), and some peeling areas shows this has been plated directly on the steel. Not any traces of a sub layer of copper nor nickel...The so called "triple plating" hapens to be a single plating, good enough to ship abroad and prevent rusting until the payment is made..... The positive thing is that have got a Bumper with no bumps, but I enrage to think I need to replate it soon... If I were in the US the guy would have heared about me. :Brow: :blast: If some of yours happen to see him, please transmt my best regards... :moonu:
