It looks like the kits have been delayed a bit. Mike has been busy with YearOne projects that were on a deadline. Anyway, he said they would hopefully be ready to go in about 3 to 4 weeks depending on the bracket manufactor getting there end done. Russ, You should send a privit message to "Mike T" asking him about the details.
Close?? Are we close yet?? Will the kit have all the pulleys and brackets? Tell us more were waiting....
Well..... Here's the scoop. My charger is on the way (with out the brackets). Mike is running a bit behind the date he thought they would be ready due to over time at work. Hopefully the kits will be ready to go soooooooon. The Kit's Mike T is selling will come as a Bolt on Kit! This will come with the brackets and Pulley with everything needed to bolt it onto a buick 455! The install time should be around 4 hours  It is complete!!!!! I should hopefully have my charger twards the end of next week and hopefully the brakets and pulleys will follow by a couple of weeks. I can't wait for the BOOOOST. Rich
Hey Todd, I don't have any pic's yet. I'm still waiting for my kit. The charger should be here this week. Hopefully the brackets will follow within the next couple weeks. As for price, You should contact Mike T. I think he can give you a good cloes price now that the brackets are being made and he can but a dollar value on them. The price is also going to depend on the Charger you go with. Mike a really nice guy, drop him a PV or a email. Rich
Well.... I got the Charger and piping from ATI today. Now all I need is Brakets from Mike. Hopefully they will be done very soon. Looking at the charger is making me very itchy to use it.:Brow:
brackets anyone? I have contacted Mike and received responses quite some time ago. I have yet to see anyone receive brackets. Will these brackets be a possibility or will fabrication from someone local be necessary. I have an F1 kit ready to go and that is it. Is there anyone reputable that responds to emails and can get the job done?
Hey David, I beleive Mike will get the brackets done. It just a matter of time. When I talked to him a month ago he talked like the basic brackets were mached up and they just needed to be improved for durability. He was then hit by dead lines at YearOne that pulled him off the project. Hopefully now that that done, he will get the brackets hammered out.
I remember an article from awhile back, about an ATI Procharger installed on a Mopar 360. Now ATI didn't do this install or have a kit availible. The author of the article did the install by fabbing his own bracket. He started by taking 2 pieces of angle iron and mounting it to 2 of the bolts that help the water pump /timing cover down. He then angeled those 2 pieces of angle iron over to the pass side head, trimmed them down to mount the charger. The charger location was then just in front of and just a little bit higher that the valve cover. Then he designed a template using cardboard, at that time adding more holes for mounting in the timing cover/ water pump area and more mount holes for the charger. He then designed the form of the bracket and cut it out and took it a a metal fabrication shop and had the designed bracket machined out of a thick flat piece of aluminum. Once mounted to the engine some spacers where added between the head and the back of the plate for support. A slotted bracket was also made with a pulley on top for a tensioner, it was held in place with 2 large bolts. Now this set up was ran by itself, with no accessories.....so that would be taken in consideration. As for a crank hub pulley for the charger , that fits a Buick 455, that's another story , I don't how one would go about fabbing that, or if one is availible aftermarket. It looked fairly easy to make...... I did a rough drawing of what I remember what the bracket looks like , maybe it will spark an Idea of sorts.
I have been playing around with an idea of mine regarding this same subject. I was just thinking about using all the bracketry and accessories from my Grand National serpentine belt drive set up. The condensor the A/C piping and hoses and the Pwr steering pump and Resivor. I thought about using that set up on the the 455 as a serpentine belt drive system. Not sure if the Alternator will clear the H.E.I. tho . I have all of it removed from the GN just havn't had the time to try it yet, but I figured if the N/A bracketry works this should also. (I'M HOPING) This completely frees up the Pass side head to mount a ProCharger. Later
It's a very good thought, but I would be VERY lerry about mounding anything to our "waterpump / Timing cover". This is a very weak spot on the motor and IMO should be avioded. It would be WAY sweet if you could use the GN's accessories to free up the passengers side. That would make the install alot easier for sure.
What about going manual steering and using the driver's side head where no accessories are in the first place? Wouldn't that be a logical place to mount another belt drive accessory?? Nothing else in the way...
I think you could keep the power steering, but it would certainly help to convert to a remote reservoir! That would take up very little room compared to the normal unit.
Hey Bill.... I have actually. Mike's been very good at keeping me in the loop on what's going on. He's had a couple of failed attemps on the 455 braket (wouldn't fit under the hood). I taked to him last Thursday adn it sounded like the 350 braket was a go (just needed to be machined) and the new redesined 455 braket should be right behind it (it's a little toughter to test since he doesn't have a 455 skylark/gs on hand to test). Anyway, it sounded like good positive progress is finally being made. Mike has really had a stroke of bad luck on the brakets.
Hi Rich, Thanks for the reply. I`m getting a little antsy waiting. Sure would be nice to have something by BG. Bill
hood clearance I talked to you at Nats last year about my hood clearance problem, and I was just wondering if you had investigaded this at all as far as measurements were concerned. I broke the motor in my GS so i swapped in the one out of my Camaro and am thinking about building a 540 to go in it's place. I should have the manual trans swap done soon, and I want to get this thing back on the road. If the blower will fit sign me up. Let me know. Thanks, Chris
