I have a couple of carter carbs from dual quad setups that I know are rare however there is corrosion on the base plates. Is there anyway of repairing the corrosion?

    Larry,

Just wonderin' if the holes under the carbs. on dual quads are not drilled how did they get corroded???? Unless they were put on a 1x4 without the plate???

they are the rear carbs and I presume they were installed without the stainless steel plate between the intake and the carb.

  4. I've been looking for a 65 to 66 rear carb if your thinking of letting them go

I've had eroded bases TIG welded and re-machined flat. Not hard to do, but the carb has to be worth the effort.

In some cases I have used J-B Weld. I've done two over the yrs. & no one has had a problem so far & the 1st. one was done about 6 yrs. ago

  7. especially on a car where the carb wont be exposed to exhaust passages in the future.
