I Think CARS is having trouble staying alive. I can see this happening. My feeling is it’s not easy for them to make money in this business. But i could be wrong. I also feel this has happened to me also From Gary.

Yeah.....the restoration parts business has a rough road ahead.....we only have 12 more years to enjoy our Buicks...so why restore if you can't enjoy.....:D

Yup! It’s more the principle of it. $5.86 for one customer. $10 for the next. Next thing you know you are making $100, $1,000, etc a day or week just on shipping “estimates”.

I’m curious by what you mean by this and the 12 years? I genuinely don’t know.

All though this is probably NOT THE CASE this time. always READ the senders email address to be sure its from the original sender. With all the security breaches going on these day, it could be achmed at CARSINC @camelballs.nuts scamming you out of 5.00 That's nothing, but 100,000 hits and 100 that give in makes it 500.00 for a few hours of keyboard clacking. ALWAYS make sure of who you are dealing with before offering up any info or gidas. ws

I'm curious about the 12 years statement too.
I actually had the same thing happen to me once from a vendor. Seems it may have been CARS, but can't remember for sure. I needed the item, so I just paid it, although I wasn't all that happy about it. Figured they made a mistake, we all do.

They did the same thing to me on a set of bumper fillers my son needed for his Regal. Somewhere around $20. I paid it and the fillers were absolute junk. I emailed them and they wouldn't even respond. Later I left feedback on the site, they removed it and changed the description of the fillers. Have not bought from them again.

That’s sound advice. I thought the same thing, part of the reason why I called them.

Honest Matt... its a rotten shame that the virtual world has come to this. In around 2000, I first went on line. It was a few months before i got my first "you may already be a possible winner..." scams. Wasnt even debit card savvy yet. Now I hafta look at every ISP after a name to make sure its domestic or whatever... Since I dont facefork, Ive ven hademails (personal emails) from know friends, with bum ISP's with a messgae like, "I thought youd appreciate this... Ted" and its a phishing link. Once you click on it yer screwed. Same goes with wifi at the house; any shithead can steal your signal and make things bad for you.

Every bastard is out to scam the unknowing for money, even if its only a few bucks. BEWARE is the word of the day! Bill

Cars LLC has been a supporter of the GS Nats for a very long time and has a very nice setup there to purchase parts.
I also notice Cars is a sponsor of the inaugural Buick Bash.
    The Parts Place is neither.
I try and support vendors who support this community and work a little harder with them when a problem arises.

I just think that CARS bottom line is a lot tighter than TPP. CARS deals with mostly Buick parts and that is a lot smaller market than the several car lines that TPP covers. So if they lose $5-$20 on a shipping mis-quote, it hits them a lot harder that the other larger repo parts sellers. And nobody talks about the investment in money that is made just to get the parts to sell....and then they have to price the parts competitively with the other sellers out there.......i doubt that the profit margin is enough for them to eat very many shipping under charges and still make selling worth the effort.....

    I will end it there......

Now i gotta get busy and finish my white 66 Cat GS.......now i've only got 11 years and 7 months to enjoy it

    Peace to all !

I have been purchasing parts from Cars, Yearone, Partsplace, T/A Performance, Rockauto, Inlinetube and Amazon, and knock on wood, I have had zero problems. Maybe I have been just lucky.
On Amazon.ca, I located the gasket for the spout of my gas jug - about $14 in U.S.A + shipping to U.S. address; shipped to Canada $56!!

Yep, it’s hard for me to sell to Canadians when it costs $20 to ship a $25 part.
