Afternoon to everyone! I am have a issue with my edelbrock 1406 with electric choke leaking around rear linkage behind the choke. I purchase this new carburetor because the old one(1406) was leaking in the same place and I called edelbrock tech line only to get a "we are gone for the holidays" and this was on Friday morning, pacific time. I know how some of the guys
feel about the edelbrock, but any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Larry

Post this in the Carb section "the mixing shop". You will get someone to give you assistance, sorry I don't really know much about the edelbrocks.

This was a brand new carb right out of the box?

With the engine at idle, look down the carb. Do you see any dripping of fuel?

Thanks for response. No, I haven't looked inside carb. This only happen to me twice, once with old carb after putting carb manifold gasket and after I installed new and took both for test drive. smell gas a little during test drive. come home and check everthing then I see both carbs leaking from the back of choke linkage.

Yes brand new. I will look in carb. Should it be dripping? If so, What's the prognosis?

Stuck float perhaps. Maybe the float level is too high? Just out of curiousity, is it hard starting?

I just started car and got it to idle,(engine little cold), but I looked in carb and no dripping. The dripping only seems to appear I have driven car and back home after engine off.

No hard starts. just notice hesitation on pickup

So you see dripping in the carb after you shut it off? If so, it sounds like you need to take it apart and check the needles, seats and float level.

Sorry! No dripping inside carb . Dripping is on second linkage outside of carb behind choke . click on link and see arrow point

Well, if the carb is leaking from the rear throttle shaft, the float is either stuck or not adjusted right. Either way, its gotta come apart. Are you running a fuel filter?

Had new fuel lines ran from tank to carb and the fuel filter was placed in front of fuel pump. should I have it between pump n carb? Or both?

I generally dont like putting a fuel filter on the pressure side of the pump unless the filter is metal and has inverted flare ends for use with steel line. The only reason I asked about the filter is that a piece of dirt getting in the carb might account for your issue

Yes, It is a metal fuel line from pump to carb. Thanks for the info. I will try cleaning carb in am and see how it respond. Will post . Larry
