I've, been thinking of putting one on. Just, to get a nipple. So, as to add a PCV system. Mine is
322ci, with stock manifold, stock Carter 4v. I want add a PCV to eliminate the vapor coming out of the crankcase blowby. Do you, have any thoughts on that? I would appreciate any of your thoughts.

Russ does sell a kit to turn the factory road draft pipe outlet into a PCV valve. They might not be on eBay, but I'm sure he can hook you up if you contact him directly.

I'm running a spacer in the form of an adapter on my Nail - dual plane design just like the factory intake (which I ported). I changed so much stuff at once it's hard to say, but it does run good with it's current setup! :3gears:

It is best to do without adapters if possible....but if not, it aint the end of the world, if you use your head while setting it up.... for instance, if the engine is a torker, dont put a big , open , adapter on.... it will kill some of the torq.....also, make the adapter as short as possible for hood clearance....there is two ways of looking at a adapter,,,, from the carb down or from the intake up.... sounds wierd,,,, but I make the adapters that I make/use from the intake up,,, i make them follow the pattern of the intake, not the carb....
Bull dog, a pcv system will keep the inside of a engine far cleaner than the old road draft system ,,, it is a definite improvement.... but you have to clean the valve regularly....and the tubes running to it....
66, I have to run adapters because I run holley carbs and 3 barrel holley carbs at that.....I fab my own out of 3/8 hot rolled steel.... and make them match the intake except for the bolt holes....the mistake I see a lot of guys make, is that they adapt a bigger carb on the engine and then do not match up the intake, and the air cleaner for bigger amounts of intake volume... also dont forget to put bigger gaskets on each side of the adapter... a 2in. bore with a 1 3/4 in gasket makes for a 13/4 in bore.....

Doc, I am going to try the 1/2" adaptor with the 4 hole this spring. I have been running a cut open adptor plate and it had decent low end but it really screamed at about 3400 rpm It was fun running up the rpm. I also have a Wilson 1" taperd 4 hole that I am going to try.....

Doc, I did the Doc dual plane a couple years ago. I really opened up the plenum area. I then ran a 950 quick fuel and had to use the adaptor. Thats when I started to play with the adaptors. I plan on finding out what runs best on my engine, 2x4 with eelco or 1x4 with 950 and differant adaptors...

Makes a big difference, dont it.....  I think that the different configurations of adapters will make some difference but just not as much as the basic ddp mod....that is to say , any difference will be harder to detect....try it ,,,, you never know what you will discover.... :Smarty:

Bob, i hope you get a chance to test 2x4 eelco with 2 600cfm carbs and 1x4 with docs mod with any carb 750cfm or bigger.that would be very interesting.

    Bob-

I thought you have already ran both setups?

Hi Pete, your right I have run both. I tore up the u joints in the rear over a year ago and havent really run the car since then. I was starting to tune a engine I put together from parts from defferant engines when I broke the car.:Dou: I had already talked to the chassi dyno shop up the street. Now it is 50 out side and I am close to getting the car back on the road. Anyway I still am planning to compare all 3 set ups.2x4, 1x4 with 4 hol and 1x4 with open plenum adaptor.

I will say I am not the only one that has said the ddp with a big carb just might be a little hotter set up than the 2x4. I just know the 1x4 adaptor with the open plenum comes on strong after 3300. I am going to drive the 4 hole first and compare them

I wish we could get my 1050 cfm 3 barrel in on that..... :Brow: just to see what it would do... but the best test is a good drag strip.......the car just sees the whole total combo of engine power, trans , diff gear, tires, suspension and road surface..... then we find out who is the firstest with the mostest.....:Brow: :Brow:

I only open up the upper plenum. Not both. Then I radiuus the be-jesus out of the lower edges of the holes. If you stick your finger down there you can feel that the factory started this. I really go overboard with rediusing. Appears to maintain more low end without sacrificing top end.
