One of the carb surfaces does have the groove cast into the manifold, but there are no passages drilled to it! I guess Buick considered it, but decided not to use it.
For the most part the way we use our cars today is a far cry from the daily drivers they used to be. Those holes in the manifold I usually block to keep the exhaust gases away from the base of the carb. 90% of the time I also eliminate or make non-functional the heat riser also. The intake manifold will still have some heat as the exhaust gases get passed around. The only time you will notice a difference is when it may be raining or very cold & after 10 or so minutes you won't notice any difference at all. Now who drives their cars in the rain on purpose nowadays.
Yeah. I' driving my '66 to our Chapter Board Meeting tonight. I plan to drive it as much as possible. it's a great road car.
No I don't Erik, but I do live in Ct. Right now it's getting close to the single digits with the wind chill tonight. And if I was to take the Riv. for a ride it would be OK in about 10 minutes of running time. Tom T.
Just for info,,, I have taken temp readings of my warmed up intake on my 425 and generaly it is right at 127 or so deg after 20 mins of running time....
