Can someone tell me how a 455 would act with a leaking quadrajet base gasket.
Put other carb on. Ran great then started acting like the first carb. Thanks Frank

I’m thinking it would run lean, as you are getting extra air.

    What is it actually doing?

Jason it was creating a jerking at steady speed. I think I have it fixed. Replaced the gasket with a new thicker one. I'm still playing with a dieseling issue. Frank

You'll get more answers by simply putting a vacuum gauge on the engine, idling in Park, fully warm. If the engine is stock, it should make at least 18" of vacuum, probably closer to 20". If you have a vacuum leak, it will lean out the mixture all the time, and that can cause dieseling as well.
